🚨🎙️Wayne Rooney on England World Cup: 🗣️
“When you look at this England side, there’s a real conversation to be had about the direction of the team. Players like Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, and Max Dowman you watch them and it’s clear: they’re more than qualified. The talent is there
England need that spark in attack. That bit of unpredictability. That fear factor.
I watched the game last night, and you could see exactly what was missing, someone who can step in, demand the ball, and make things happen. That presence, that confidence… that’s what these young players bring.
At Under-21 level, that’s where you prove it to yourself. That’s where you say, “I’m good enough. I’m ready.”
And for me, if you’re showing that level of belief and ability, you deserve the call-up”

❤️ Roy Keane paid a moving tribute to his late mother, Marie, at her funeral in Ireland on Tuesday:
“I never heard her complain once in all that time. Not once. What a woman she was. Ultimately our Mam and Dad were at their happiest when they were together and they are together again. Good bless Mam and thanks for everything you did for us."
Rest in peace, Marie Keane 🌹

🚨JUST IN: How Brazil’s media reacted to Gabriel Martinelli’s 23-minute cameo following his goal against Croatia
Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli found the net for Brazil in their 3-1 victory over Croatia.
Brazil fans criticized Carlo Ancelotti for not starting Martinelli in their last game. The Arsenal forward began on the bench on Tuesday night but came on for the final 23 minutes.
The Arsenal number 11 scored a brilliant goal to secure the win, but Brazilian media remain unconvinced by his overall performances.
Gabriel Martinelli came on for Vinicius Jr in the 67th minute of Brazil’s friendly against Croatia.
During a counter-attack, Endrick set up Martinelli, and the 24-year-old finished with a first-time left-footed strike.
The Brazilian press praised the goal but remained critical of his overall performance.
Tupi gave him a 6.5/10 and wrote: “He came on for Vini Jr and had an inferior performance to the starter. But he had the merit of making two good plays, and one of them resulted in his goal, closing the score.”
Globo Esporte rated him 7/10 and said: “He only had a reasonable performance, but shone in stoppage time, finishing well and scoring the third goal for the national team.”
ESPN were a bit more complimentary with their review. They said after rating him 6.5/10: “A much better performance than in the first game of the FIFA international break, largely due to the benefit of entering a game with space, which suited his speed. A well-deserved goal.” Via[@afcnewsroom]

🗣️England U21s manager Lee Carsley on the relationship between #Arsenal youngsters Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly: “I’ve seen Myles a lot in the age groups coming through, and him and Ethan, they’ve got a really good chemistry together. They seem to be able to find each other in pockets, and they’ve been very good on and off the pitch.
“Myles got fast-tracked very quickly, from Arsenal straight into the senior team, and he’s found himself in a position now where he’s getting a lack of minutes at Arsenal, so it was perfect timing for him against Moldova last night.
“What I can control is the minutes I give him at an international level, and for him to do two 90-minute matches in a short amount of time sets him up nicely now, going back to Arsenal."
