Urbanisation is at the core of social change; therefore, industrialisation, which is the main cause of urban growth, determines the social pattern.

There's a very important reason why Peter Obi keeps emphasising the importance of industrialisation in Nigeria. Nigeria needs a kind of social change that'll usher in social/class consciousness amongst Nigerians; and class consciousness is what sustains economic growth.
