I was watching PMs Questions today and it left me utterly sick. We are a small island with 500 years of coal in the ground and a North Sea that still holds billions of barrels of oil and gas — yet we are energy desperate and food insecure. Wind and solar sound green on paper, but they are intermittent. When the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine, the lights stay on only because we burn gas (often imported) at eye-watering prices. Solar farms are swallowing up productive farmland we desperately need for food. Britain already imports nearly half its food. Covering fields with panels while telling farmers “produce less” is not a plan — it’s a gamble with our dinner tables. Farmers — the people who actually grow our food — are being hit with inheritance tax raids and the removal of direct production support. England is now the only major European country that gives farmers zero financial incentive to grow more food. The result? Warnings of 9%+ food inflation and real shortages ahead. But it matters not Kier S., doesn’t give a sh1t because he won’t be affected. North Sea oil and gas production is in natural decline, but the government’s ban on new exploration licences is accelerating job losses (tens of thousands already gone, thousands more threatened in Scotland). Meanwhile, we lecture the world about net zero and let other countries keep pumping. That is not moral leadership — it is self-sabotage and gross hypocrisy which only imbeciles could manage. We have the resources, the skilled workers, and the engineering know-how. What we lack is a leader willing to say the obvious: energy security and food security are not luxuries — they are national survival issues. Net zero by 2050 is an ambitious target. But when it means higher bills today, lost jobs today, and empty supermarket shelves tomorrow, it stops being visionary and becomes reckless ideology. The British public is not stupid. We can see the wood for the trees. We want clean energy where it makes sense. We want to protect the planet. But we also want to keep the lights on, heat our homes affordably, and feed our families without relying on volatile foreign suppliers or covering our countryside in panels. Common sense demands we use what we have — coal, North Sea oil and gas, nuclear, and yes, renewables — in a balanced, realistic way. Drill where it’s viable. Support farmers to produce food first. Stop pretending ideology trumps physics, economics, and basic human needs. Wake up, Britain. Before the bills get even higher, the lights flicker more often, and the empty shelves become normal. Here lies Britain. She froze and starved to death trying for Net Zero It’s time to choose reality over rhetoric.

@implausibleblog With schools saying that half their kids are out sick, it’s about time people paid attention. Get the #flujab (the cell one vs the egg one). BtW, carers get it free.

Why isn't EVERYONE offered a flu vaccine? Public health in the UK is at times absurd 🤷‍♂️ - watch this from BBC News: Sally Nugent, "There is growing concern about the rising number of flu cases in the UK" Jon Kay, "In England 1,700 people in hospital with flu" Sally Nugent, "That's the highest number since 2010" Jon Kay, "A school in Wales has temporarily closed" Headteacher Simon Kidwell, "We had an outbreak in late September early October, it caused quite a lot of staffing issues, and a lot of children off" "We've had the flu jab in school, kids have had the nasal spray, so hopefully we'll have a clear run now till Spring" Jon Kay, "But it's a challenge if parents, brothers and sisters haven't had it and it spreads so quickly" Simon Kidwell, "Winter bugs spread really easily in schools" Sally Nugent, "Are enough people getting their vaccine?" Pharmacist Sanjeev Panesar, "We want to see a bigger uptake" Jon Kay, "2-3 year olds eligible, school children getting the nasal spray version, who else is eligible" Sanjeev Panesar, "Anyone over 65, or with serious chronic health conditions" Headteacher Simon Kidwell, "Pharmacists aren't eligible for the flu vaccine, neither are school staff"

Seriously I'm so sick of this 'fairness' bollocks. This is how fair it is. About 40% of people in England actually pay NHS prescription charges! everyone else is exempt. They pay £9.90 per item, not per prescription. even when the drug costs pence! The NHS raises £670m from 1.18 billion prescriptions a year. BUT If everyone paid equally, the charge would be about 57p! 57p!!! so dont talk to me about fair 💣
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

We are freezing prescription charges. No one's health should be put at risk because they can’t afford their medication.

My brother is an electrician who works in offshore wind. He sent me this photo of the largest turbine installation vessel in the world. Skilled jobs, good pay, & secure futures. While fossil fuels shed jobs & destroy the planet, renewables are delivering for the working class.

In October 2025 I saved around £226 fueling my EV instead of fueling a petrol or diesel car. PLUS drastically reduced my home energy bill. I drove shy of 2000 miles. I did two long journeys from Cardiff to Manchester and return. (18% of cost 40p per kWh) The 7p per kWh rate on @OctopusEnergy has saved me hundreds! Remember you can use it at home too if you can load shift energy to the offpeak window which is 11.30pm to 5.30am. octopusreferral.link/switch-to-inte…

@teachwellall Makes no sense. Gone from writing to each of us telling us we’re high risk & get vaccinated asap to dropping me from eligibility after a couple of years. Now suddenly my husband who was eligible up to & including Summer isn’t eligible for winter vaccination.

@Jenny_1884 Gates is not the definitive voice on Climate change, he is not a climate scientist. It is strange how the deniers didn't believe him when he said their was a problem, but now they do. The science has not changed. The world is still heating up, the climate continues to change.

So why aren't we rejoining EU. We left ...now everyone with half a brain knows brexit was a huge con and disaster. None of brexiters got what they voted for - all us normal people got exactly the brexit we voted against
BBC Breakfast@BBCBreakfast

Rachel Reeves stressed the long-term damage done to the UK economy by the 2020 Brexit deal, in remarks at the International Monetary Fund The Chancellor told the world's leading finance ministers and central bankers: "The UK's productivity challenge has been compounded by the way in which the UK left the European Union." bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
