Journalism is a trade. We don't care if you went to school for it. We care if you're voraciously hungry, fanatically driven, painstakingly scrupulous, pugnacious and prolific. Stephen A. Smith is not a conservative or a Republican; he is a capitalist. His entire perspective is based on the idea that to succeed in society, one needs capital. He has been highly successful in this endeavor, even helping many individuals enter the industry, only for them to criticize him in return. While he does fund and support initiatives that aim to advance our community, this alone is not enough to satisfy those who hold power. These self-appointed gatekeepers of Black America, primarily Democrats, collaborate with the political class to dictate the pace of our progress. This is why they want to eliminate Stephen A. Smith. He is demonstrating to the public that there is an alternative path to success. For this perceived offense, they will stop at nothing to end his career. Regardless of his humble beginnings, the numerous community centers and schools he funds, or the fact that he loves the people he serves, they will attempt to convince the very people he cares about that they are the ones he despises. This is an evil tactic, but it is not a new one.
