I still have an iPhone 4, which a friend gifted me in 2015. I was holding this phone in October 2015 when officers of the Nigeria Police Force “arrested and detained” my friend and me around the Old Garage area in Ado Ekiti. My crime? I was holding an iPhone.
They refuse to release us, even after the person who gifted me the phone offered to bring evidence of rightful ownership. They eventually released us until they collected money from us and beat up my friend for saying he knew his rights.
I still hold that iPhone and occasionally charge it cos of how I value gifts and the other memory it holds.
PS: After we paid and they “released” us, the policeman who arrested us heard my surname and asked to speak with me. Turns out he lived close to our house as an undergraduate at UNAD, and he always came into our compound to fetch water free of charge for his entire stay in Iworoko. I asked him if that was the proper way to repay his benefactors? I hissed and walked away.

Hubby has been using this Rice cooker for the past 20 years. I met it in his house after we got married. Tonight, after I was done cooking with my daughter, I told her its time to trash the rice cooker and get a new technology one. Hubby overheard us and he said "To me, that rice cooker is family now. Don't throw it out. You can get a new one, but this rice cooker stays until it get spoilt". 😂😂 He said the rice cooker saved him in his bachelor days. I guess when you used some things for so long, they become family. 😂😂
