@ChrisWhodl @peterrhague My favorite conspiracy theory is that the flat earth conspiracy theory is a CIA conspiracy.
English

@peterrhague I am a conspiracy theory connoisseur but I have 3 filters that I apply to remove crazy: moon landing, chemtrails and anything involving Princess Diana.
I consider flat earth to be a prank not a proper theory.

@DoomerTapes The only reason ethanol is cheaper is because of the massive amount of corn subsidies in this country, if we replaced all of our oil with ethanol and devoted every last kernel of corn we made to ethanol production we still wouldn't be able to meet demand.
English

Now im not some green activist, but if the oil prices concern you, what should really concern you is the fact that we almost had widespread adoption of ethanol and it was completely bodied by the oil industry propaganda.
It is essentially premium racing fuel, burns clean, and is far cheaper than gasoline. It is less efficient, but if the technology caught up to that, small engine turbo cars could have been designed around ethanol to figure that out.
I personally run flex fuel in my car and it makes way more power with mild loss in economy. There are definitely downsides such as water absorption, but again, this could be worked out with enough eyes on the problem.
We were robbed of cheap, clean, powerful fuel, and now i get to laugh and use ethanol at the same low price while people cry at the pump.
RETVRN to corn

@politicalmath The Shining is mediocre, Kubrick is a self indulgent hack, you are all wrong. Just because it's been memed into the cultural consciousness doesn't mean it's a good movie.
English

My teens wanted to watch a horror movie so we watched The Shining, which sent me down a rabbit trail
Critics *hated* The Shining when it was released. Siskel gave it 2 stars. Variety said Kubrick "destroyed all that was so terrifying about the King novel". One critic called it "Shallow, self-conscious, and dull. Read the book".
Kubrick was nominated for "Worst Director" at the first Razzie awards
I find all of this insane. In imdb, The Shining is rated as one of the top 100 movies of all time. It is seared into our collective memory with "all work and no play" and "Here's Johnny" and "red rum".
Somehow Kubrick made a horror movie that every "smart" person hated when it came out and yet endured as one of the great movies of all time. How do you do that?
English

@fleshsimulator Could be… but I just don’t get how anyone can devote this much time and energy to something so unprofitable for this long unless it’s actually profitable (I.e. their being paid by someone)

@snulius @Tom_Rowsell @leftypol_org The aggressive execution of criminals in medieval Europe had a eugenic effect to create a pro-social, pro-civilization, and superior race of people.
English

@Persimmons32 @Tom_Rowsell @leftypol_org You're literally a collective clone of them. You would have done the same thing given the same environment.
English

@alexthechick It works because none of her female supporters have ever been married.
English

Where is this insanity that when you change your name, you change it on your birth certificate coming from?
Other than rectums, I mean.
Terrence K. Williams@w_terrence
Democrat Hillary Scholten: “In Michigan's third district alone, 160,000 women could find themselves unable to register to vote simply because when they got married they didn’t change both their ID and their birth certificate.”

@HomericFuturist There were no Frenchmen, slavs or meds signing the Declaration.
Based.
English

If your ethnicity had someone sign the Declaration of Independence you can stay
The micks had Charles Carroll 🤷♂️
I can’t find any Somalis though
Sorry I don’t make the rules
Pat Dan@patdanbully
@EricLDaugh @MAGAWEAVER There were approximately 50k illegal Irish immigrants in NYC during the 80s. Most had children who are proud American citizens. Should they be stripped of this??

@Vicelinus @robertsepehr @Hayabusa1753 @smajid_moosavi Everyone in the middle east became brown after the Mohammedan A-rabs raped and pillaged through the exhausted Roman and Sassanian empires. Before that they were closer to Meds or Caucasians.
English

@robertsepehr @Hayabusa1753 @smajid_moosavi Everyone was brown in the middle east chud, you are coping

@Tom_Rowsell @SeaxiscHeathen @leftypol_org Roman history is more my wheelhouse than Greek, but just speaking to that, reading about how my ancestors destroyed the most prosperous and stable nation the world had ever known is pretty damning. I'm immensely proud of them for their work rebuilding the west afterwards, though.
English

@Tom_Rowsell @SeaxiscHeathen @leftypol_org It doesn't, that's just banter. Mud/adobe structures can last, sure. But then we can get into things like literacy, general prosperity, the propensity for higher thought and culture, art, philosophy, building lasting monuments and structures that enrich the world...

@robertsepehr @smajid_moosavi Bad take, rare Sepehr L. Iranian people are literally the ancestors of that civilization.

How am I supposed to give women shit for “intrasexual sabotage” when men are doing the same thing now
The haircut on the right looks like trash if you don’t have elite hair texture genetics

Escape the fades, grow your hair out
English

@SeaxiscHeathen @Tom_Rowsell @leftypol_org I know that if you go back far enough my Germanic ancestors were living in mud huts and performing human sacrifices while the Greeks and Romans were building the western world. At least they came around to the whole civilization thing eventually.
English

@alexthechick @coffee_oil Given the current political climate that's not just "hard work", it's impossible.
English

@coffee_oil I think the birthright reading of anyone born here is a strained reading of the 14th. I also think those who read it that way have some support for that view.
As always, this could be cleared up by people doing the hard work to amend to make clear. But that is work.
English

@Tom_Rowsell @leftypol_org Being descended from barbaric savages isn't a flex, but thanks for the info.
I am ashamed of my ancestors' primitive nature.
English

@RBMEllis @greg_price11 "Shall not be infringed" is pretty fucking clear
English

@greg_price11 It just feels so painfully obvious that the 2nd amendment does not mean that a 21 year old living in Detroit can purchase a semi-automatic riffle that holds 50 rounds.
English

@Gormogons @alexthechick Extremely hard, bordering on impossible?
English

@alexthechick GP Yeah. How hard is it to legislate something like:
Illegal aliens, asylees, and legally present foreigners are not "subject to the jurisdiction of" the United States for purposes of conveying birthright citizenship to their offspring born within the United States.
English

There is not one single thing stopping Congress from acting or from a Constituional amendment being passed.
I have nothing but outright contempt for each and every human being who puts forth the position that only SCOTUS can do things.
It's pathetic.
Geiger Capital@Geiger_Capital
It might come down to Amy Coney Barrett… She’s going to decide the future of America’s sovereignty in the modern world.
English

@alexthechick There isn't anything stopping congress from acting? In theory, sure, but in practice, we can't even get the overwhelmingly popular SAVE act passed, let alone a constitutional amendment.
