This episode of Friendly Fire is no joke 👀🔥 @benshapiro: "Michael, I'll just ask you straight up. Is Candace Owens doing something evil by attacking Erika Kirk?" @michaeljknowles: "I think that it's wrong to attack Erika Kirk." BS: "Say the sentence with her name in it." MK: "I'm not going to dance like a puppet for the podcast wars."

@ComprehensLatin What is a good homework assignment you give every class? I teach at a Homeschool ministry and it is only 50 minutes once a week. What is a good HW assignment you think?

The new textbook list for the Latin program I'm running: by the time students finish 10th grade, they will have read 100k+ words (over half a million, counting re-reading) and have read three complete medieval Latin works.

How to say "being addicted to something" in Latin? A while back I read in Petronius the expression "morbosus in aliquid", which means having a "sickly passion" or morbid obsession for something. I think it's a great classical way to express "being addicted to [something]". Echion, one of Petronius's characters, says his son is clever (ingeniosus) and good-natured (bono filo), "yet he is morbosus in aves" — basically obsessed/morbidly hooked on birds.

Would anyone be interested in a four-part video lecture series on Latin and Greek verse composition?

@mrsjennyvine @LiturgyGuy It is not this video, because the Appeal is already public. This is a restricted video.

@LiturgyGuy I lived in the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS for for 14 years and every year Bishop Naumann had a video played during Mass, usually for the annual appeal I think. It's probably all this is. I don't love a video during Mass and think password protection is strange.

Update from Charlotte: Every pastor has been emailed a video clip from Bishop Martin which MUST be shown at all Masses this weekend. It is believed that in the video he will share his “pastoral vision” for the diocese. In an unusual move, a first for the diocese, the video attachment is password protected. Priests have been instructed that the password will be given to them at noon on Saturday.

@PaulinusOfTrier This happens once per year for a bishop’s annual appeal. If that’s what occurred here, it’s not unique to Bishop Martin.

Has Bishop Martin of Charlotte taken leave of his senses? Apparently he is insisting on a video of himself being shown in the middle of Mass in every parish in his diocese.

In the Charlotte Diocese, traditionalists publicly spar with Bishop Michael Martin and argue for liturgical diversity, while Vatican II Catholics say that liturgical allowances have been too lax. bit.ly/4tE4OgI

@Person1231Addd @MargoCatholic That’s fine, you’re entitled to your opinion. However, whatever my personal opinion or preference, I’ll follow the Church. Too many people want to fight a war over this.

@jon_lucci39811 @MargoCatholic So I guess then I just think the church (as people) can be imprudent in disciple on liturgy, even if it is law. I mean Ad Orientum was seen as imprudent even if most of church history said that, thus the reverse can be true as well.

@CraigOnan @MargoCatholic little harsh no? Not very charitable in a discussion...I am not saying that they didn't do the TLM irreverently, but I would say that the best of the TLM has more reverant than that of a NO.

@Person1231Addd @MargoCatholic Because we’re not just talking about the liturgy. And if you think priests that say a NO mass irreverently didn’t also pray the TLM irreverently before Vatican II, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
