#Lebanon: There was a huge series of blasts and bombardments last night in densely populated areas in South #Beirut. The situation is chaotic. Thousands of people, including our colleagues, had to flee their homes in the dark with nothing, some fled on foot. Over 500 schools are full. People slept in cars on the streets. Hospitals are overwhelmed with the wounded. Our teams are working around the clock to deliver water, hygiene kits, and blankets. So far, they have delivered 400 kits of basic relief items. We are also offering psychological first aid, while continuing to assess people's needs. As the Israeli bombardment campaign of Lebanon continues, we reiterate our call that civilians and healthcare workers must be protected.

A few days ago leaving Athens and as I sat on my seat on the plane and buckled up, a man and his wife, it turned out they were from Australia, were sitting next to me. “Going home?” said the man to me. “I wish I was,” I said. A moment of silence. “Do you know where I am from?” I asked. “No,” their head indicated. “I’m from Palestine, from Gaza,” I responded. Their faces turned red with silence. “Things are not good there, eh?” said the woman. “No, there is genocide there. I lost a lot of relatives and friends. israel destroyed or damaged 70 percent of Gaza, same percentage of the refugees in Gaza. Israel destroyed the border crossing point. No, things are not good there.” I turned my head and looked through the window. My heart was not feeling good. After 4 hours, we landed. I checked the news and found out that a school in Jabalia was bombed. 15 people got killed, many of them were mothers preparing for next day lunch. Next day was Friday, a day when family members in Gaza gather around the same food table (no table these days) and eat from the same tray. One of my sisters was in a school next to that one. She was not harmed. The bomb smoke forced her and her children out of the class. She went to that school and saw flesh and bones. She felt harmed. No, things are not good anymore.

Before & After of a UNRWA school in Gaza. Do you still need more evidence? “Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind.” (Quran 22:46)

Again & again & again, the New York Times headline writers cannot bring themselves to mention Israel or ascribe any kind of responsibility or agency for deadly attacks - let alone blame. Their deliberately-chosen wording is so cynical, so dishonest, so Orwellian. Shame on them.

A former school? NYT covers Israel killing civilians sheltering in a UN school without mentioning the word “Israel.”

Children are starving in Gaza because of Netanyahu’s policies. Netanyahu — the man Speaker Johnson has invited to address Congress. Johnson should remember these children when he's enjoying fine steaks and lobsters at fundraising dinners with his billionaire friends.

The ICC’s application to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu is a milestone in holding Israel accountable for its violations of international humanitarian law.  It is shameful that Republicans and some Democrats voted to undermine these proceedings today.

I wished to be awarded this Freedom Prize the moment my country is free from the Israeli occupation. We -Palestinians- have been suffering from the atrocities committed by the israeli occupation since 1948. My people in Gaza are now being annihilated and starved while the world remains silent and no one stops this genocide and no one has been able to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, and we will fight for our freedom relentlessly and fearlessly till we witness the liberation of our land, my fight is not done yet. Keep in mind that no one is free until Palestine is free. After all the horror that I witnessed while covering the ongoing genocide and after the many times I almost was going to lose my life while reporting on it, there is nothing more important than the protection of journalists. I got the chance to evacuate Gaza, but my journalist colleagues in Gaza currently face threats that severely impact on their life, safety, and their ability to report the truth because of the israeli occupation and its heavy and indiscriminate bombardment. More than 136 journalists from Gaza lost their lives only for doing their job, but with your support we can all together call for the protection and safety of the palestinian journalists still on the ground risking their lives to continue telling the truth. I evacuated my beloved country Gaza, but I promised myself to make our message reach the world that we are people looking for our freedom and we are not terrorists. Please do not stop talking and reporting about Gaza. Thank you all very much.

Today, President Biden signed an executive order that will essentially stop asylum at the US southern border with Mexico.   We are extremely concerned about the devastating impacts this order will have on the physical and mental health of people seeking safety.

Gaza UPDATE: Medical teams at Al-Aqsa Hospital are currently trying to deal with a huge influx of patients, many of whom arrived with severe burns, shrapnel wounds, fractures, and other traumatic injuries. Al-Aqsa is one of the only remaining functional health facilities in the Middle Area. Following heavy Israeli strikes in the Middle Area of the Gaza Strip, at least 70 dead people and over 300 wounded— the majority women and children—have been brought to Al-Aqsa hospital since yesterday.
