Huge, but huge uncertainty... 17GW: panels imported from China Jan-Sep 2024 10-15GW: BNEF estimate for Cal-2024 solar installed 3.2GW: official gov solar net metering est at Sep-2024 (all from report here) (also not yet clear to me how much installed in 2023) On the call yesterday, installed solar was estimated as 14GW now. I suspect higher, but let's go with that. Some rough calcs by me... - 14GW would be almost 50% of peak demand based on 18GW average grid demand across last year. But demand is highly variable through the year: 18GW on average, but summer peak demand 29GW, 12GW in winter, 8GW minimum shoulder load.
