Yes, I'm aware. I also recognize that Calgary desperately needs major infrastructure upgrades and could face serious trouble if something goes wrong. I’m equally aware that, historically, when governments receive extra money, they almost always find ways to spend it, and not necessarily wisely before quickly coming back with their hands out asking for more. Ask for what you need, when you need it. People have more patience for that approach.

Edmonton City Council walked into a room telling Edmontonians they were working hard to try and reduce property taxes, but instead increased them to 6.9%. Calgary dropped their planned 2026 overall property tax increase from 3.6% to 1.64. Be prepared for an overall 25-30% increase over the next 4 years in Edmonton. Socialists know no other way.
