@JohnGarthWriter @DigitalTolkien @TolkienWonder My dad programmed radio shows in the 60s (on vinyl records) but I don’t think I’m your Peter Gilliver. @PeterMGilliver is probably closer to the mark.

@DigitalTolkien @TolkienWonder My father, born 1930, pronounces "vinyl" as if saying VINE I'LL. I don't know where these pronunciations come from; certainly not a classical education in my father's case (he doesn't have one). They're not recorded in the OED. Any tips, @PeterGilliver?
