I had the honour of writing BBC’s obituary for Norman Jewison. I’ve always loved In the Heat of the Night but I don’t think I ever appreciated his amazing range. He made Thomas Crown Affair, Fiddler on the Roof, Rollerball, Moonstruck — all completely different, all truly iconic
