Before the Buster Douglas upset, Mike Tyson ruled by fear. He beat opponents before they entered the ring. He was 37-0 w 33 KOs.
After that loss, fear of Tyson went away. He finished his career 13-6, even humiliating himself by biting an opponent.

@SNYtv Mets attendance during mid-80's run peaked at 3,055,445 in 1988.
In 1988, field level seat for a June Sunday day game against the Phillies was $11 - worth about $30 today.
A similar seat for June 15 game against the Rays is currently going for $181.50 on the team site.

I have never admonished #Mets fans or any fans for that matter for not “showing up.”
Many folks no longer have the disposable income to spend on extras, like sports. The median household income in Queens is a little over 80k.

@SNYtv I don’t question Uncle Steve’s commitment to the team & I fully appreciate that it takes money to sign all those big free agents, but for a guy who professes his belief in markets, the message is simple: If you want to pack the house, lower ticket prices.

@SNYtv Reminder that the objective of dynamic pricing model is to maximize revenue, NOT attendance.
Teams would rather sell 7 tix at $75 ($525) than 10 tix at $50 ($500) - even though that leaves 30% empty seats.
Make games more affordable and "the people will come!"

Running around a field w lots of pads, chasing a ball, is NOT anything like combat.
An NFL season is long & exhausting, but it is NOT anything like a military deployment.
