After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. He put his hand on an agent and shoved the agent. He was pepper sprayed and arrest initiated afterwards, which he proceeded to actively resist and fight arrest while in possession of a firearm. Once the firearm was retrieved he continued to actually resist and fight arrest and refused to allow agents to subdue, search and secure his person to assure that he wasn’t in possession of alternate or secondary firearms. Leaving himself a liability of objective reasonableness for fear to life and safety of the agents in close proximity and contact. Law enforcement officers don’t have to wait until a firearm is brandished, fired or being shot to engage, if there’s objective reasonableness to fear for life and safety action and use of force can be administered. Requirements were met, justified shooting.

Once again “reasonable perception of imminent deadly force” is justified from the “totality of the circumstances" rather than just the exact moment of the threat.  “Totality of Circumstances” is looking at all factors leading up to the incident, not just a single, isolated moment. So if I had one weapon taken from me, does that mean I don’t have another? Because I carry two weapons on me.

How so? You argued for activists to be permitted to use their roles as ersatz medics as a pretext for active resistance of ICE operations. I simply pointed out that such roles, if they weren’t being used disingenuously, are normally carried out by state and local authorities in cooperation with ICE. You have it backwards- I am not arguing for state and local authorities to be unlawfully used to support ICE operations but rather that a state and local government acting in good faith would permit state and local authorities to carry out their normal roles in these matters to prevent activists from co-opting them to carry out their own agendas, which are quite far removed from any imperatives to observe the Hippocratic Oath. Tell the truth.
