In the era of #ArtificialIntelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

@RobertStock6 Not quite as deep as teddy ballgame but Stan Musial has a bunch of quotes saying not to hit it in the air to center but to aim for the gaps to lines. Goes against all the “stay up the middle” gurus lmao

Ted Williams was a hitting genius generations ahead of his time. It’s uncommon that great players explicitly understand what makes them so good. They usually feel it, and their internal model doesn’t actually match reality, but it works for them. Not so for Ted. He knew his stuff
cade@cade_cavin55

Ted Williams wrote about matching swing plane to pitch approach in 1970, and when we model it today we can see why Matching swing plane to pitch approach moves EV significantly closer to your ceiling, independent of count, location, platoon effect, bat speed, and player quality

I was way off. He is already there. Wemby is the best player ever. We are all getting to see it. We will tell our grandkids stories of him and they’ll think we are crazy. My favorite player already. Idc about bron versus Jordan. Wemby is my GOAT.

@ScoringChanges Jacques Plante was ridiculed and called soft for being the first to wear a goalie mask. Remarkable how player safety is seen as a bad thing by some

About seven years ago, I was scoring a softball game and recorded an L8 A1. A line drive off the pitcher’s head that was caught by the center fielder. Pitcher was done for the season. That’s how hard it was hit, and how little time she had to react. I have ZERO issue with anyone wearing a face mask, and no one anywhere should. I’m always shocked to see a pitcher without one honestly.
Kaitlin@KaitlinInglesby

Can NCAA softball announcers please stop using their platform to bash face masks? Your job is to objectively analyze the game, not insert an irrelevant opinion on player safety. Sincerely someone who almost died taking a ball to the face 🥎🤫

@KaitlinInglesby It’s not quite as serious as it’s not life or death as it can be with the head but it’s the same with old heads when it comes to elbow and leg guards. Like sorry I’d rather not lose use of my arm cuz i wasn’t wearing an elbow guard and got drilled on the funny bone

@Ike_Saul Any chance for the public good that you would remove paywall for this particular story? Would love to share widely and appreciate the intro which I have read (and all the work at @TangleNews).

I haven't seen anyone tracking all of the alleged (or open) Trump corruption, self-dealing, and quid pro quos in one place. For the last 15 months, I've been tracking every single tip+story I can find and organizing it. Today, I published a 6,000 word piece with every example.

A 100 mph infield throw from Jesús Made?! No Triple-A or MLB infielder has done that in a game during the Statcast era 😳 (🎥 @BiloxiShuckers)

@kdog7454 @BaseballAmerica @BiloxiShuckers Have you ever even heard of the phrase long hop? Short hop? In between hop? I feel I’m taking over your head and I apologize if I am. I am not arguing it’s a perfect throw. But long hops are fine. Again, wasn’t an E6 cuz he gave the 1B enough distance to make an easy scoop

@kdog7454 @BaseballAmerica @BiloxiShuckers He caught it because he threw a low long hop the guy could catch! It! Was! Not! A! Bad! Throw! If he threw it an in between hop, then go buy your first basemen a drink for saving your ass. That’s a fairly routine pick

@kdog7454 @BaseballAmerica @BiloxiShuckers 2/2 if it hit a wonky patch of grass and went a different direction, error on ss. At higher levels players are taught to give long or short hops for a reason, easier to scoop. The in between is the hard one. It wasnt a bad throw which is why it wasn’t missed. Thad what I’m saying

@kdog7454 @BaseballAmerica @BiloxiShuckers 1/2 the first basemen didn’t miss it because it was a long hop! It shouldn’t be missed by a pro first baseman. Hell they might give the first basemen an error if it hit him square in the pocket and he dropped it.
