Please stay away from @Afrinvest for your sanity sake. From my experience with Meristem, Bamboo and Afrinvest. Afrinvest is the worst. Meristem has always paid me same day a place a withdrawal and Bamboo pay almost instantly. I’m yet to receive a withdrawal I made on Friday

I remember during my university days at Ekiti State University, I had a hostel mate whose parents had to struggle for months, sometimes starving to raise just ₦50K for his tuition. Whenever he knocked on my door, I already knew it was to ask for garri. So I would often leave a bowl of garri at my doorstep for him. At one point, he drank garri so often that he vomited it. Fast forward to now, on Sunday, he reached out to me from the United States. He is currently a Proffesor of Physics at Arkansas State University. He reflected on those difficult times, how I used to give him ₦30 for bike transport to and from lectures, how I would take him along to my girlfriend’s hostel so we could eat swallow, egusi spiced with sawa fish together, and how we would go to Ado Market to buy those ₦500 starchy shirts for both of us. He remembered how I would wake him up for compulsory night classes in the cold Ado nights, and how, when he fell sick, I used my own tuition fee to pay his medical bills, then lied to my mother just to get another one. He recounted everything… and then sent me ₦500K “to buy some green bottles.” And that’s just a fraction of what he has done for me in recent times. Never look down on anyone. Today’s struggle can become tomorrow’s success story. I think kindness is an investment that never loses value.

@TheDrAfolarin On the morning of my surgery, they lost a patient at the theater. The surgeons came out sad and had a drop of tears on their face. But they have about 8 more surgeries that morning. They wiped their tears and went back to operate on me. See eeh, I don’t blame them most times.

“If I leave her I will feel like a loser.” This is the nature of 9ja relationship. The man spends so much money impressing her and getting her to date him. Then he sponsors the entire relationship and use money to keep her. He then lives the rest of his life fearing an end to the relationship because of his investment. He doesn't want the relationship to end because of his investment. Where your money is, your heart will be there. That babe's heart is not in the relationship because she has never invested anything into the relationship. She just wants to use him to japa, and she will deal with him. This is what we have tried to teach men everyday. Women should invest equally into the relationship as much as you're investing. Everyone fights for their investment. If her money is not in the relationship, her heart can never be there.

If you apply your mind a little, you would see that my response destroyed your argument. But let me reiterate, in case you have any difficulty doing so: 1. The flat fee in a High Court is N1k, not 10% of property value. I offered 5 times that amount. 2. The lawyer who did it for me decided not to charge. I didn’t force him not to. I sent him a bottle of cognac as a token of appreciation, and we have since developed a great relationship in which he has handled several matters for me, for which he was properly remunerated. 3. You do not want to engage with the comparisons with other professions because you cannot counter the inherent logic in the comparisons without sounding unlearned. Even the UK solicitor handling the conveyancing was not asking for 10% of the property's value. He was getting a very modest flat fee. Our people here wanted to charge a percentage of property value for witnessing a signature. If that makes sense to you, good luck. But please note that I will continue to ridicule it. If you have deployed a skill, by all means, charge for it. Whoever is willing to pay for that skill will do so and anybody who doesn’t want to will go elsewhere. What skill is involved in witnessing a signature that warrants 10% of the property value, please? Same thing with standard tenancy agreements with standard clauses. AI will soon take that one over anyway and there would always be someone that would put their stamp on it for a modest fee. You are free to keep waiting for 10% of property value. What you don’t realise is that setting a flat fee for routine transactions will actually encourage more people to use lawyers. It will also help junior lawyers who can make money on volume and turnover, leaving senior lawyers to focus on complex matters. But the preference of some is to reap where they did not sow for doing next to nothing. It won’t work with me and I will continue to advocate against it. Have a great day.
Samuel Adegoke, Esq.@samadegoke_

I have gone through the premise and conclusion of your post but the tweet fail to answer these two points which are the crust of my earlier post: 1. If you’re aware of a flat fee, why didn’t you pay the latter lawyer you offered 5k & VSOP? Or even suggest that to the Silk and have the negotiation process. 2. Your comparison with other profession isn’t relevant to this issue & circumstance of this case. Hence, I’ll leave that aside. My analysis from your perspective reflects that you took advantage of the latter lawyer (and you even came online to brag about it)— that is the ridicule. Because you could have paid much more than the paltry sum–5k that you offered. You see where I am coming from, Dr?! I’m sure you are aware of these issues. That you’re no longer a practicing lawyer doesn’t mean you should put others out of business. Thank you, sir.

The day they announced promotions at work, the whole office was buzzing. People were smiling, whispering, refreshing their emails. Somehow, my name was already in people’s mouths before the list even came out. “Congratulations in advance!”
“Guy, you deserve it!”
“Na your turn be this!” I was smiling too… because honestly, I believed it. I had worked hard. Stayed late. Showed up on days I didn’t feel like it. In my mind, it made sense. Then the email dropped. My heart started beating fast. I opened it quickly, eyes scanning line by line… once… twice… three times. My name wasn’t there. At first, I thought it was a mistake. Maybe I missed it. Maybe there was another list. I checked again. Nothing. That moment felt heavy. Like something just dropped inside my chest. But I still had to stand up and act normal. Then people started coming. “Congrats! You don see am?”
“So how far, boss?”
“Promotion don land!” I forced a smile. A very painful one. “My name… it’s not there.” The way their faces changed… that one hurt the most.
Shock. Confusion. Pity. “Ahh… are you serious?”
“How come?”
“But we thought—” I didn’t even have answers. Just small nods and awkward smiles, trying to act like it didn’t get to me. But it did. That day felt longer than usual. I did my work, but my mind wasn’t there. I kept asking myself questions I couldn’t answer. Maybe I wasn’t as good as I thought.
Maybe I wasn’t seen.
Maybe I just wasn’t enough. But life has a way of surprising you. A few weeks later, out of nowhere, an opportunity came. Another job. Better pay. Better environment. Less stress. It didn’t even make sense at first. That was when I understood… Sometimes, the door you’re praying for will close in your face… because a better one is waiting for you to walk into it. God came through for me. And looking back now, I’m grateful my name was not on that list.
