While there, POPE Leo the Great confirmed Patrick’s full adherence to the Catholic faith • spent 2 decades as a Catholic MONK • was ordained a Catholic PRIEST • was consecrated a Catholic BISHOP by a papal representative • described himself as a Catholic • believed in: • the Sacrifice of the Mass, which he celebrated himself, obviously • confession to a priest • absolution from a priest • purgatory • loss of salvation • merit • the Church is built on Peter • the papacy • baptismal regeneration • fasting • penance • drew up a list of canons for the Church in Ireland which commanded that any dispute not resolved on a local level was to be forwarded to Rome for a decision.
