PhD position available in our lab focusing on Craniofacial Development.
The @dfg_public funded project will focus on uncovering the molecular mechanisms that drive orthodontic tooth moment.
Happy to share our next publication, in which we performed cell-specific deletion of the mechanosensory ion channel Piezo1 to investigate its role during mechanical-induced bone remodeling @SciReports. Great collaboration with @KrivanekLab. nature.com/articles/s4159…
Here is our story of evolutionary adaptation in vertebrates based on variable metabolic rates and excretion - all connected to a new protein we named FAME. There are very few uncharacterized genes in human and mouse genome, and FAME was one of those: doi.org/10.1038/s41467…
We discovered gene flow of FAME from Neandertals into modern humans and identified FAME as a membrane-associated protein, which is enriched in kidney, pancreas, liver, and fallopian tube, impacting our metabolic processes.
Is salamander limb regeneration a mere recapitulation of development? Do the regenerated skeletal elements look like their physiologically grown counterparts? Does the salamander limb growth mechanism resemble the one of mammals? Find the answers here:

The entire V4SDB delegation at the excellent #ISDB2021 meeting in the Algarve in Portugal. Super friendly and collaborative atmosphere. Wish you were here ( and if you are come and say hello).
Thank you to the jury and organizers of the 94th Scientific Annual Meeting of The German Society of Orthodontics (#DGKFO) for selecting me for the young talent award. A big thanks goes also to all co-authors without this study wouldn’t be possible.
Proud to present the next publication from our lab on the effect of early enzyme replacing therapy on dental and craniofacial abnormalities in a mouse model of MPS VI.
Many thanks to the great collaboration and the reviewers for their valuable feedback.
