I respectfully appeal to the 11th @Parliament_Ug, before the end of its term, to declare April 24th a public holiday in honor of modern day, post-revolution fighters and patriots who continue to safeguard and shape our nation.
Figures such as Gen. @mkainerugaba exemplify commitment to national security and continuity. Recognizing their service would foster reflection, gratitude, and unity.
To eliminate unnecessary costs, the commemoration can be organized as a hybrid event held at State House and broadcast live on national TV ensuring nationwide participation in a cost effective way.
Globally, nations honor their heroes through days like Memorial Day (USA), Remembrance Day (UK), Volkstrauertag (Germany), and Yom HaZikaron (Israel). Uganda can do the same.
This proposed day would be distinct from Heroes Day, focusing specifically on contemporary contributors and modern service.

MP Ssemujju criticises a Shs305 billion allocation to Lubowa Hospital; Shs 254 billion for Ntungamo Coffee, and a Shs1.5 trillion requested by Dei BioPharma. He says the projects are a waste of taxpayer’s money. #PlenaryUg
