@billreburn @James_McLarenF1 @_SuperGT I agree. The rules are clear. Either lapped cars stay in place, or all lapped cars through +1 sc lap, or red flag. Mercedes was banking on being able to cover these outcomes possible within the rules, and in that sense they had the superior strategy.

@James_McLarenF1 @_SuperGT What wasn’t Masi’s fault? He’s the race director. 100% him. He could leave the cars as is and let them race, or follow the other path and let all the lapped cars by + SC lap, which would’ve meant SC ending. Masi doesn’t have the ability to choose between the two. Just one.

I’ve now watched the whole F1 race on TV for a different perspective of it. It really isn’t the way an amazing season should have ended but I’ve sensed in recent times that the FIA increasingly make artificial decisions to aid entertainment.
