@Philip_RJ89 Spot on. And the comments suggesting you're singling out Ballard are ridiculous. The hair pull was unintentional but he should have been nowhere near that area of the shirt (ideal world he shouldn't be shirt pulling at all, but this is unrealistic). A mistake and a deserved red.

Enzo Le Fée was hammered for his failed panenka. Habib Diarra was crucified for missing a chance at Villa. If people think Dan Ballard should escape criticism for that red card today, they must be joking. Argue about the rules and VAR all you like.

@PghMackem Physical coming together is inevitable in football. It's encouraged. Physical battles always have been. It has always been part of the game, it always should be. And in absolutely no justifiable way is pulling hair 'violent conduct'. It's ludicrous to argue otherwise.

@Capt_Fishpaste Pulling hair is not part of the game. Pulling shirts shouldn't be and while some of it will happen, it's not something to be encouraged. As to what is an automatic red card, well that's always debatable. But the league have made it crystal clear that pulling hair is one.

@PghMackem How? I mean do you think pulling the shirt is a clear red? Until about a month ago has pulling someone's hair even been remotely a clear red card in your entire life? You really need to explain your thinking here as it's looking pretty weak.

Wow. Disgraceful. And I hate using that word easily. Three in-swinging set pieces. All defended like total wankers. Inexcusable. #SAFC

@Capt_Fishpaste Yeah his style is irreplaceable but his impact as a goalscorer is not. He's functionally is the equivalent of the NHLs two way forward (with holding up replacing defending). He's Bergeron, not McDavid. His value to Bayern (who can afford a McD) will be lower than to us.

The Brian Brobbey Bayern Munich link raises an interesting question: How much is he worth? Such a unique profile, four years left on his contract, only 24. What Sunderland would want and what Bayern would be willing to pay are, for me, two very different numbers. #SAFC

@Ian73willis @Capt_Fishpaste Johnston played 6 games in the PL for Sunderland during the relegation season of 96-97 but was persona non-grata after the promotion in 99 and never appeared once, despite him being crucial in getting promoted. Losing him and Lee Clark is why that side didn't make Europe.

@Capt_Fishpaste Two different things. The Reid side were only in the 2nd tier for two years, narrowly relegated in the first place, and within a single kick of being back 1st year. The current side is a much bigger achievement. But in terms of the better footballing side? 99-00 no question.

All the rich people I know love living in places with HOAs. No broken down boats. Rainbow yard signs. Grass 2 feet tall. Lack of weed control. Broken fridge on front porch. Broke people hate HOAs because they hate doing basic things to make their houses look nice.

@MattGubba So why are average US household utility bills more than in the UK? I mean obviously it's because we use more energy, even if it's at a much lower per unit cost, but is this really the route you want to go down? Really?

UK energy costs are now 4x higher than in the US. Not double. Not triple. Four times. And we’re told this is “progress”. Factories are shutting. Investment is leaving. Jobs are disappearing. Why? Because Labour is pushing Ed Miliband’s Net Zero lunacy at any cost. Shutting down our own energy. Blocking North Sea drilling. Forcing reliance on expensive imports. Then acting surprised when bills explode. This isn’t climate policy. It’s economic self-harm. Other countries back their own energy. Britain punishes it. This is ideology over common sense. And we’re all paying the price.

@Capt_Fishpaste Thing is with Talbi, he always improves. At times quickly, others slowly, but each time he's out there he looks better. He'll plateau one day for sure but I suspect he's a long way off doing that yet. Have to say that Rigg too was great last 2 games after a difficult season.
