@BothVotesIndy All true. SNP are now England’s last line of defence against Scottish independence, though few will acknowledge it. SNP give Scots the illusion of being pro-indy while simultaneously acting to subvert it. Both votes SNP is such an obvious own goal. Joanna gets it.

Ron. Extremist Scot. Pro-biology + Independence.
This is not a stupid man. He's voting SNP on the list because he knows that means Unionists will be elected, giving the SNP yet another excuse for not progressing Scottish independence. He's not mad, he's bad and he's preventing replies to try to make sure no one tells him.

That’s the postal votes away. Both votes ⁦@theSNP⁩ and very best of luck to Sophie Traynor ⁦@STrayn0r⁩ who will be an excellent MSP for Dumbarton.

As I believed when I first raised this in Parliament, there was clearly a conspiracy to pervert the cause of justice involving members of the SNP and SNP government that led to the trial of Alex Salmond.   Since then successive SNP governments have run a serial cover up, suppressing evidence over and again, assisted by the compromised state of the Scottish prosecutorial system.   It is high time there was a proper police investigation by an independent police force beyond the control of the SNP. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…

Alert readers will have noticed we've been a bit short on articles lately. This is because, frankly, there's very little left to say about Scottish politics, which is stuck in a Groundhog Decade of stagnant, incompetent tedium that looks set to last for the foreseeable future no matter the result of next year's Holyrood election. (Our cartoonist is similarly devoid of inspiration.) They may also have noticed some recent (accidental) email notifications about some old posts about videogames that I imported into the blog as a backup because the new hosts of my personal site Wings Over Sealand have made a giant arse of it and rendered it inaccessible. And that made me mull something. Rather than spend thousands of pounds a year hosting a site that only has one post a week on it, I'm considering formally broadening Wings out into a more personal site that would still have Scottish politics articles, but also a much bigger variety of stuff interesting to me, like videogames and music and ice lollies and pictures of swans and whatnot. There wouldn't be any FEWER Scottish politics posts - they'd still be the priority, any time there was anything worth saying - but they'd be interspersed with other stuff you might not care about. (Although frankly most commenters just seem to want to yell at each other about Gaza, and I guess to that end it doesn't much matter what the articles are about.) The name wouldn't change, but the site would be more like Wings Over Stuey's General Thoughts About Stuff. I've imported all the Sealand stuff under a different username and would use that for non-politics posts, so you could always change your bookmark from the main front page to the "Rev. Stuart Campbell" author category and then you'd only see politics pieces. Anyway, I'm just pondering it, so feel free to let me know what you think. TBH I think it'd still be vastly more interesting than wanking on about poll subsamples for an election four years away that doesn't matter anyway, but hey, not everyone's the same as me.

The Four Bars of England and Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland are deeply concerned that the government is planning to restrict the right to a jury trial in England and Wales. Being tried by a jury of one’s peers is a fundamental cornerstone of the criminal justice system in our respective jurisdictions. The curtailment of jury trials has predictable negative consequences, including undermining the public’s trust and confidence in our criminal justice systems. Trial by a jury is long established and respected throughout the common law world for its veneration of democratic ideals, its age, gender and ethnic inclusiveness, and its respect for citizens’ and judges’ roles in the administration of justice. The Four Bars stand as one in opposition to this proposal. Legislation is still some time away - the government has time to listen to the views we express and to change course. This interview shows the jaw dropping economic illiteracy of Ed Miliband regarding energy prices and taxation. Despite his economic illiteracy, he’s in charge of Britain’s energy policy. And his net zero obsession is jeopardising our economic and energy security.

It really is remarkable people in Scotland still believe Westminster, and the English parties who invariably run it, have any interest in our future. From the past few months…
