This is why I will always be an advocate of intelligent people being outspoken and taking up spaces, because the more you say you don’t like the limelight, the more you keep giving room for the olodo uprisers to dominate. They have numbers.

Why can't the respective state assemblies outlaw it?
Lere Olayinka - Aresa 1@OlayinkaLere

Outlaw Almajiri System To Stop Insecurity, Gov. Sule Tells NASS Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, wants the National Assembly to outlaw the Almajiri system permanently. Sule says the practice fuels Northern Nigeria's exploding out-of-school population and worsening insecurity. The Governor made the call in Abuja during a Summit on Enhancing Human Capital Development in Northern Nigeria. Nigeria faces an immense education emergency, with an estimated 18.3 million out-of-school children. The Almajiri system in Northern Nigeria is the single largest structural contributor to this problem. Recent data reveals that Almajiri children make up roughly 72% to 81% of Nigeria's total out-of-school population, concentrated largely in the Northern parts of the country. But addressing the problem requires a total collaboration of the Northern intelligentsia, the political class, and the traditional system. Governor Abdullahi Sule, is warning that many minors recruited into banditry graduated from the Almajiri system. His State, Nasarawa, accounts for about four hundred and thirty thousand (430,000) of that figure. Governor Sule recalled the 2020 mass repatriation of Almajiri children by Nasarawa and Kaduna States and notes that enforcement requires alternative solutions. His proposal is radical, and it is a total ban of the almajiri system, and a replacement with mandatory formal education and skills acquisition. The Governor is now urging Northern leaders to turn summit discussions into actionable draft Bills. He believes policy changes are the only way to defeat regional poverty.

Also, education and intelligence aren’t the same thing. There are thoughtful people who never had much access to school, and there are highly educated people who confidently spread nonsense 😂

I love the pushback this movie is getting. For years, Yorùbá spirituality has been portrayed as evil, demonic, and cruel. Some of us fell victim to this. Thank God for helping us see the truth.

@diponet1 @egi_nupe Prosecution of all forms of violent crimes should be under the purview of the FG. I haven’t seen the draft work for this state police bill, but I hope it explicitly states crimes to be prosecuted by the FG and the ones that falls under the jurisdiction of the state government

TO THE LAWYERS ON THIS APP, IF TERRIORISM IS A CRIME AGAINST THE STATE (NIG ) , SHOULD STATE GOVS HAVE POWER WITHOUT FEDERAL GOVT APPROVAL TO RELEASE TERRIORISTS UNDER THE DISGUISE OF "repentant terrorists"? @egi_nupe GOV. UBA SANI hit the nail on the head.. A terrorist doesn't need repentance because they kill people, it's because they didn't succeed in killing those that caught them that's why they are tagged repentant. So when they are caught they deserve death sentence or be eliminated by the troops outrightly. NO SUCH THING AS REPENTANT TERRORISTS.

They’ve turned the whole “olodo uprising” thing into targeting people they dislike, whereas the average Nigerian shares a similar thinking faculty and sits around the same spectrum as the people they’re calling out. The only difference is that some of you have had more exposure and are better educated. But when you open your mouth and speak, the ideas coming from your head, outside of your educational qualifications, are often not much different from those of the same people you criticize and use as examples.

It has been 6 months since the tax reform was implemented, and none of those who claimed that Tinubu wanted use it to steal from the poor have come forward with any evidence that he has done so. If anything, many workers have seen an increase (significant or not) in their salaries as a result of the new tax law. Ironically, the same people who are now benefiting from it were the loudest critics when the government wanted to implement this reform. It’s a reminder that sometimes policies should be judged by their actual impact rather than the fears and assumptions that surround them before implementation.

@ismailadebiyi_ @OpeBee Even when they finally begin to work, which they would soon, hopefully. We would actually be exporting the PMS to Europe as the focus is to get them to produce Euro grade 5 &6 PMS. That’s one way we can make money from the refineries, instead of running them at loss.

@ProjectFalconi @OpeBee Importation is part of competition too. NNPC in conjunction with the Chinese are currently working on the Warri & PH refineries, but the PMS output after completion would be 🇪🇺 grade, so they’ll be exporting to 🇪🇺 as that’s the only way we can make money from those refineries.

@OpeBee Una no get shame. Pressure the FG to fix or sell the Refineries. Pressure the FG to help faststrack BUA Refinery. Let importers build Refinery and Refine locally. NNPC nko? Importation is not competition. Na only Ashawo dey open legs waaaaaaa to everything

@Haycube23 @OpeBee Let’s even assume he tows this path for every time a mother vessel berths somewhere on the Atlantic, it’s not a template he can sustain or else he would be the first to close shop. Apart from the Nigerian crude he gets, there are other components he imports to blend with it

@OpeBee Issuing an import license will not solve the problem. This Man will wait for the imported products to arrive Nigeria and crash his own price below the importer's price. Importers will then run at a loss. He has done it before and he will do it again. NNPC is to be blamed for this

@SuleimanToyeeb @NigeriaStories The new arrangement between NNPC & the Chinese in regards to our refinery, would only increase our PMS export Volume. The brand of petrol the Chinese plan to produce from the Warri & Port harcourt refinery are Euro grade 5 and 6, they are meant for Europe, not our local market.

Very good. Can we have similar for cement? We can’t be paying +12,000 per bag of cement. People should be allowed to import cement freely as well. Also, we should work quickly towards fixing all our refineries. Make living easier and things more affordable please. @officialABAT
