@DocOnSkis @TraumaSoapBoxes Well, at least I can say I didn't start it. Anytime I don't pay close attention to details in this business....*insert eel GIF here*.

@DocOnSkis @TraumaSoapBoxes ...where this scenario gets tricky, and what she is probably referring to, is when blood products ARE indicated, but are delayed because of procedural logistics...giving crystalloid during this latent period while waiting for the blood, and the resultant worsening of coagulapathy

Would be kinda funny if after all the digital ink spilled on Biden’s sinking approval rating it was all entirely literally just gas prices.

@PharmERToxGuy @complexfive @ACEPNow @IDWeek2021 @SCCM @KyleWeant Were nurses looking inward back when they had the aspiration & foresight of carving out a place in healthcare to become accepted, independent, mid-level practitioners? Think it was more outward assertiveness; less acquiescence of "traditional role". We should follow suit IMO.

@complexfive @ACEPNow @IDWeek2021 @SCCM I understand this perspective and also am grateful for the opportunity to educate. There were at least two pharmacist speakers are #ACEP21, with @KyleWeant also representing. In the same vein, we need to look inward. Pharmacy meetings rarely have non-pharmacist speakers.

Broken record but scrolled through @ACEPNow HUGE list of speakers for #ACEP21. ONE PharmD. ACEP believes RPhs serve a critical role in pt care, just apparently not critical enough to warrant inclusion in their meetings. @ACEPNow should learn from @IDWeek2021, @SCCM, MANY others..

@brentnreed All well and good to be a bit snobby about one's prospective experience, but to me, the biggest factor is missing: intuitive strategy for matching to something/anything. Does one want to move forward in their career having completed a residency program or not?

@britnidlc @SC_PharmD Patterns occur everywhere...in nature...it is we that assign meaning to them. Let's not assign meaning to arbitrary patterns for the sake of generating racial debate.

@EMToxRx Why not speak/ask to speak directly to the provider, whose choice of regimen it likely was in the first place?

@emergencypdx @spoonfedEM "Alright, then why NOT give IV if it's easier for everyone involved (particularly nurses)?" These are the discussions that become difficult to argue against amongst the team.

@garyDpeksa The only reasonable conclusion I have been able to deduce is that it comes down to a perceived turf battle among other health professions. The political clout of other huge associations, such as the AMA and ANA are huge barriers to our success in this endeavor.

It's 2021. Pharmacists are leading mass vaccination campaigns. We won't give them provider status. #TwitteRx

@SpringateMD For me, the distinction manifests when I have to work alongside a practitioner with limited clinical knowledge but also awareness of their own prescriptive authority.

@PharmERAtom Honestly, I don’t expect a July intern to have a ton of knowledge, but I want them to work hard and be eager to learn. The learning comes so fast with intern year if you’re willing.

I tell all of my students on day 1–I expect 0% knowledge, but 100% participation and effort. That’s what will set them up to learn and show me the best way to facilitate that!
