I had a 5 raptor day in my bit of N.E. Dublin the other day. Buzzard, Redkite, Sparrowhawk Peregrine & Kestrel from Donnycarney to Darndale with Kes being the rarest in that area for me these days. All from the car so not a bad haul

I’m getting loads of notifications on Home Screen from unknown women who I don’t follow or know in any way. There slightly suggestive but nothing really. I worry these women don’t even know their stuff is being sent to people they don’t know. Any Gen welcome please

I’m devastated. I’ve been told that my little paradise & more importantly the Badgers set has been levelled. Were the animals removed? Are they trapped alive underground? Can they dig their way out ? don’t know anything 1st hand but i feel like borrowing the JCB & trying to open

I was delighted to be part of the celebrations launching ‘The Birds of Co. Donegal’ by Ralph Shepard. A beautiful book with superb paintings by Rob Vaughan, it sets a new high for books of this genre. Congratulations Ralph!

@GardaTraffic Opiates and Benzos can be in prescription & even over the counter drugs. I’m not condoning or comparing the above incident in any way. Just saying a lot of people on the road may test positive. I’ve been told by a doctor that it IS legal to drive on proscribed methadone?

@IanStev21081570 Thanks Ian. I must send it to someone in the know. It was about 100m from the Wicklow border but I don’t know has their range been up that far previously?

Found this dead shrew in Co. Carlow.Ireland. Don’t know if the messed up teeth are postmortem. From the Net it’s a little big for Pygmy & a little small for White-toothed Shrew. I don’t know if the body would shrink or expand after death. If anyone knows sp. please let me know Tks

Bird of the day was the elusive Collared Puffbird, expertly picked up by local guide here @ PiraAcu,deep-in & well off the trail.Ever since I saw the illustration of this bird by Larry McQueen in Schulenberg’s Birds of Peru field guide, I’d always wanted to see one! #BirdingBrazil

A balance is what I would expect to happen. But there are NO rabbits & mix-amitoses hasn’t been here in years as far as I know. It’s a mystery. If anyone knows please tell. Hedgehog’s are thin on the ground also? Photo off the fields attached

The only thing that’s missing on the land these days is Rabbits. The fields have names & one is the Rabbit field. I seen a stoat hunting them a few times years ago. People are saying it’s the Buzzards & Kites as their a recent arrival. They can’t kill every rabbit.

The farm is made up of 8 small to medium fields divided by great old hedges. A man makes hay on it & he doesn’t use chemicals. It took a few years but now the place is alive. Grasshoppers, Butterflies, Horseflies, Ticks & all the way up to Buzzards nesting. Nature bounces back🙏

Swallows in the family’s unused farm in Carlow are coming out from the sheds at 4am approx. Today it was 4.20. It’s still pitch dark. I thought something was disturbing them but it’s too regular. Only for their calling constantly u wouldn’t c them. Bats & swallows together! Mad.

Again looking back on some old foreign trip photos. This is a Hooded Crow so I presume the Hawk has to be a Goshawk ? Sorry only record shots. Any opinions welcomed

Thanks Marc. Is this tame, out in the open behaviour normal? I’ve only ever seen them high up flitting through trees but as I said, I haven’t seen many. Thanks

A few years back in Greece (autumn). I presumed Redstart. I’m not very familiar with this sp. but think now its behaviour was strange for this sp, as far as I know. It was on the balconies, tables & chairs of the guest house all the time. Very tame. Strange I think.

Seen a Yellowhammer in some rough ground close to Belcamp halting site, Coolock, N. Dublin. I’ve seen Stonechat there before. From there to Blanchardstown, the S side of M50 gets countryside birds as the N side is fields. YHammer is 1st inside M50 for me I think

Last night in. Darndale Dublin, I seen 2 bats. Last week in Raheny I seen 3. All a Pipistrel type I would think but these are not places that I commonly see bats. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing
