@PhilCornell510 @DieselCane22 @JBKnicksNYC @SadNYGuy Maybe. Fools errand. I think you may be underestimating NYers who have the Rangers as their 3rd or 4th favorite sports team. The casual fans come out strong when the Rangers are good… similar to the Knicks (larger scale).

@JBKnicksNYC @SadNYGuy The devils have the smallest fan base n pro sports. Estimated under 400k fans based on market research. Rangers have roughly 7 million fans. Islanders have more fans that devils around 1.8 million

The NBA is better when the #Knicks are good just like the NHL is better when the #Flyers are good. That's what's been so dumb about the NBA's marketing strategy in focusing so heavily on star players & social media. Big markets & teams with long, interesting histories matter.

@chriswithans Carson rarely had any competition then, as opposed to the endless options now. Cronkite used to draw 27 million to 29 million viewers; the CBS evening news anchor now, Tony Dokoupil, has fewer than 4 million viewers.

@NYNJHarper A GM might talk Stearns out of signing guys like Montas and Polanco and signal Cohen’s impatience with what’s transpired. The plan can’t be to wait to see if the season is a complete disaster.

A GM would work under Stearns so don't think that's the answer. Great unknown is whether Cohen would move on from Stearns if season is a complete disaster. Remember, he said in February that making the post-season should be the minimum level of achievement this year.
Caligula NY@CaligulaNY

@NYNJHarper I feel like Steve cohen needs to show the fans this is unacceptable and make a move Hire a gm take some power away from stearns...what do u think Harp?

@realJeremyCarl Fax machines were big in 1992, too. How are they doing now? Hundreds of streaming options and 100M people on social media have shrunk the overall network TV audience dramatically, especially in the past 10 years.

When the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson signed off in 1992, 55 Million of America's 250 Million people watched. (More than 1 in 5 Americans) Stephen Colbert's final show drew 6.7 Million out of 342 Million Americans (less than 2%) That's the difference between being an American institution and preaching to a small and dying liberal choir.

@davematt88 Why do you idiots not understand the basic principle that CBS is a public company that seeks to make a profit? If whatever replaces Colbert is less costly and makes a profit it will stay. If not, it will go also. What is so difficult about this?

All of those Trump supporters who have said that Stephen Colbert was canceled because of low ratings are going to have to explain why Byron Allen's comics unleashed isn't canceled when it gets low ratings. I guarantee the ratings are gonna be lower.

@MetsSouthFla A poorly constructed roster with one of MLB’s highest payrolls? Unless Steve Cohen likes to waste money, a change at the top is clearly needed. For starters, maybe hire an actual GM.

Memorial Day weekend is the mark of a ⚾️ season where you know what your team is. The Mets are 22-30, they are not a good baseball team. They aren’t better than the Nats/Marlins like some think. This road trip was huge coming off a 11-5 start to May & they have played like 💩 again. Win/lose today, bad road trip. They can’t make changes you expect, nothing that’s gonna make a drastic impact. Poorly constructed roster, this season is now about the future. Getting mad daily is nuts, just face the facts, this isn’t a good team! #Mets

If everyone continues to hit -> I hope Semien is the one who is asked to play the super utility role. Move Bichette to 2B -> and have Semien spell a different player 3 times a week and adjust the lineup accordingly. I don't get the Jared Young fascination tbh. im not sure why it is automatically assumed he needs to play when he returns, as if he's done anything to warrant that level of commitment. Other people disagree -> but I don't get it lol

#Mets have finally found the formula they’ve been looking for to help them keep building momentum. SURPRISE, SURPRISE it doesn’t include batting Austin Slater batting 3rd or M.J. Melendez clean Carson Benge -> Last 30 days : 5th Highest B.A. in MLB .347 BA | 2 HR | 6 2B | 9 RBI | 10 R | 5 BB | .385 OBP | .854 OPS Juan Soto -> 7-game Hitting Streak that just ended: 12 for 28 0.429 BA | 2 HR | 9 RBI | 10 R | 5 BB | .515 OBP | 1.479 OPS Bo Bichette -> current 5-game Hitting Streak: 8 for 23 0.348 BA | 3 HR | 9 RBI | 5 R | .370 OBP | 1.109 OPS | .739 SLG Mark Vientos -> nearly had twice as many Homers in May 0.230 BA | 4 HR | 5 2B | 14 RBI | 9 Runs | .709 OPS Brett Baty -> has hit safely in 10 of last 11 games 0.308 BA | 4 HR | 5 2B | 9 RBI | 4 R | .370 OBP | .860 OPS A.J. Ewing -> as a starter he’s reached base in 8 of 9 games 0.276 BA | HR | 3B | 8 RBI | 6 R | 8 BB | .432 OBP | .880 OPS It’s time to move A.J. Ewing to 6th & let him be a run producer or drop him to 9th & have him function as a 2nd leadoff man. Lindor is expected back by late June -> if #Mets continue their current run, they could be over .500 by the time he returns. If the #Mets are at or over .500 by the time Lindor returns, it’s a whole new bloody season. 🦾💥 “At a certain point, they're a lamppost to a drunk person…” ~ Josh Hart -> description of Analytics #LGM #MetsTwitter x.com/MLB/status/205…

@MarcMeu87868286 @TheWrap As Forbes put it last month: “Today, linear viewership (watching set programming at a specific time) has plummeted, and audiences have splintered across television, streaming services and social media.” Johnny didn’t have to deal with any of this.

@PhilCornell510 @TheWrap Other (so-called) comedians still have gainful late night employ at other outlets, be they networks (NBC and ABC) or cable (Fox News, Comedy Central, and more). Bottom line is that losing $40-$50 mil/yr for your company, is a proven means of getting your butt kicked out the door
