The thing about NYC is that all our sports fanbases are divided about 50-50 Baseball: Yankees - Mets Football: Giants - Jets Hockey: Rangers - Isles (Devils in there too ig) With respect to Nets fans, Knicks got a 95-5 Split on Basketball and that's why a Knicks run is so unifying I don't think any other team can replicate this

@chriswithans Carson rarely had any competition then, as opposed to the endless options now. Cronkite used to draw 27 million to 29 million viewers; the CBS evening news anchor now, Tony Dokoupil, has fewer than 4 million viewers.

That works both ways. When Carson was around, most people could only access his show live through one TV with an antenna. And they had to watch at 11:30/10:30 central. Now pretty much anyone can watch Stephen Colbert at any time, but very few people wanted to.

A GM would work under Stearns so don't think that's the answer. Great unknown is whether Cohen would move on from Stearns if season is a complete disaster. Remember, he said in February that making the post-season should be the minimum level of achievement this year.

(More than 1 in 5 Americans) Stephen Colbert's final show drew 6.7 Million out of 342 Million Americans (less than 2%) That's the difference between being an American institution and preaching to a small and dying liberal choir.
