@PhilDrowley Some actually believe the nonsense they spout. Kennedy is one example. Others just say things so that they’re part of the circus. You ok?

I spoke with Prime Minister Starmer, President Zelenskyy, and many of our closest allies this morning to discuss Ukraine’s path to peace. Canada supports the proposal for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. Now, Russia must stop stalling and launching its attacks. It’s time for Russia to come to the table in good faith. As the G7 agreed at Charlevoix, we will tighten the monitoring of sanctions to encourage compliance. Canada is Ukraine’s steadfast ally. We will make sure Ukraine has the military support it needs to defend itself — now and into the future.

I welcome the progress made during the discussions between the United States of America and Ukraine held today in Jeddah, particularly regarding the idea of a possible 30-day ceasefire. The ball is now clearly in Russia’s court. France and its partners remain committed to a solid and lasting peace, supported by robust security guarantees for Ukraine.

I warmly welcome the agreement today and congratulate President Trump and President Zelenskyy for this remarkable breakthrough. This is an important moment for peace in Ukraine. We now all need to redouble our efforts to get to a lasting and secure peace as soon as possible.

I met with General Carignan today, Chief of Defence Staff, about the hard work ahead to make Canada secure. Together as Canadians, we’re going to meet our 2% NATO spending target by 2030, modernize NORAD, strengthen our Arctic presence, and ensure we build a strong, resilient Canada.

I received a report from our delegation on their meeting with the American team in Saudi Arabia. The discussion lasted most of the day and was good and constructive—our teams were able to discuss many important details. Our position remains absolutely clear: Ukraine has been seeking peace from the very first second of this war, and we want to do everything to achieve it as soon as possible and in a reliable way—so that war does not return. At this meeting with the Americans, Ukraine proposed three key points: silence in the skies—stopping missile strikes, bombs, and long-range drone attacks; silence at sea; real confidence-building measures in this whole situation, in which diplomacy is ongoing, which primarily means the release of prisoners of war and detainees—both military and civilian—and the return of Ukrainian children who were forcibly transferred to Russia. The American side understands our arguments and considers our proposals. I am grateful to President Trump for the constructive conversation between our teams. During today’s talks, the U.S. side proposed taking an even bigger first step—a 30-day full interim ceasefire, not only stopping missile, drone, and bomb attacks, not only in the Black Sea, but also along the entire front line. Ukraine is ready to accept this proposal—we see it as a positive step and are ready to take it. Now, it is up to the United States to convince Russia to do the same. If Russia agrees, the ceasefire will take effect immediately.

Just left Ukraine. What I saw proved to me we can’t give up on the Ukrainian people. Everyone wants this war to end, but any agreement has to protect Ukraine’s security and can’t be a giveaway to Putin. Let me tell you about my trip and why it’s important we stand with Ukraine.🧵

This is probably one of the best speeches i have heard since the whole debacle with the US and Europe started. It is by Claude Malhuret a French physician and politician who has been a member of the French Senate since 2014. Personally the end of the speech sums up my views. "Our parents defeated fascism and communism at the cost of great sacrifice. The task of our generation is to defeat totalitarianism of the 21st century." To my European friends this is a manifesto for the future of Europe, our actions will guarantee a future for our children. Failure to unite and act will bring the collapse of the European democratic states one by one and a very dark future for all. To my US friends, USA is STILL one of the greatest cradles of democracy that have ever existed, BUT what is happening now is a mistake, a mistake we will ALL soon pay.

I went to the Senate floor to lay out for my colleagues the stunning story of brazen, open corruption during the first 6 weeks of the Trump presidency. I think it's a story everyone needs to know. 1/ So a🧵with the highlights from the speech.
