Enjoying the latest issue of the @TankMuseum’s Tracklink magazine, especially James Donaldson’s article on AFV recognition and Ian Hudson’s on the military training of current troops that goes on at the museum.

A gentle pan around the @TankMuseum's Vehicle Conservation Centre. I'm not even going to try to point out any of the #tanks & other armour that come into view. I love the disembodied voices echoing around - there were about 12 guys who had disappeared off among the vehicles! 😂

I proudly handed over Magar Flag to President of Magar Association Nepal which was raised on summit of Mt. Vinson & completed 7 Summits. The flag also reached to the South Pole. I also handed over Nepali Flag to PM Sushila Karki at Tundikhel. . . . #Magar #Nepal #HariBudhaMagar

@PhilLoder Burma 1942 was a narrow escape he barely escaped being captured or killed by Imperial Japanese Army as it swept all away to the gates of India. Living dangerously but when you have a charmed life!

Just read this memoir from Field Marshal Harold Alexander, published in 1962. He had a remarkable #WW2, from the BEF & Dunkirk, back to Britain, over to Burma, then N Africa & Italy. In the book, he jumps from revisiting battlefields to campaign narratives, but all fascinating!

At the @TankMuseum yesterday for a Friends meeting and had the opportunity to see progress on King Tiger V2. Still being stripped down, with everything being carefully labelled. Road wheels and torsion bars will be disassembled soon. #WW2

After my visit to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton yesterday, I tracked down these three Type 24 #pillboxes around a road junction near the museum entrance. #WW2

In the small seaside town of Wimereux the Germans built Stp 211 Ibis. It was home to the Kriegsmarine M.A.A. 240. Fallen from the cliffs over recent years one of two 612 bunkers as featured here along with the Beobachtung/Observation bunker #WW2

Visited the excellent @FleetAirArmMus at RNAS Yeovilton today. Pics are a Blackburn Buccaneer, Supermarine Walrus, BAC Concorde 002 and Westland Sea King. The Buccaneer is on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier reconstruction which uses parts of the scrapped HMS Ark Royal.

Just finished reading this and can’t recommend it enough! Fascinating account of #Japan from the earliest peoples to 2024. But a spoiler: WW2 is covered in 5 pages, although there’s more on the conflict before 1941 and the occupation from 1945. #books

Tuesday Tank: oops, late this week, but here are photos of the Panzer IV (Special) captured in Libya in 1942 & assessed at the School of Tank Technology at Chertsey. An Ausf (Model) G, it had the new long-barrel 75mm gun. #WW2 @Burntime0101 @milmodelscene @USAS_WW1 #TankTuesday
