@johnkonrad Everyone who serves gets a paycheck provided by taxes paid to the US Government. Everyone cannot serve, but people need to work to pay those who serve. Thank you for having a job and providing for our financial well-being.

“America doesn’t need the oil, our allies do” Gave my best years to drilling for oil in the Gulf of America. I am incredibly proud of the dangerous work my crews did. It’s hard to describe to the younger generation how desperate the oil situation was before the fracking revolution. Did we know that this day would someday come? A day were our military could be more relaxed, more detached without oil being the primary motivation in the Middle East. Yes we did. But for me it was bittersweet. Many of my crew were Army National Guard but with the training requirements to become captain that wasn’t an option for me. It was even harder when my wife deployed to Iraq. Each one told me “stay here, keep drilling, our troops need this.” Still to this day it hurts. Every single day someone drops a comment “but John you didn’t serve” True. But for an officer it’s about your crew and the dangers were real as the Deepwater Horizon disaster proved. Maybe it’s just an excuse, IDK. Woke up this morning around 8:30 in my tent after a long night of eating and drinking with my friends. I thought doing a push-up would do me some good, but in reality I actually fell down and had to use my arms to get back up, so there’s that… I need a beer. 🍺

@SGTWipper1Each The F-35 is a multi-tool. The A-10 is a precision instrument built for a specific task. A Leatherman is great in a pinch, but when you need a #3 long-handle Phillips, a Leatherman won't be as helpful.

The USAF has officially closed the training pipeline for new A-10 pilots. The final class graduated on April 3, 2026, at Davis-Monthan AFB. It’s a quiet but significant moment. The Warthog isn’t gone yet, but the final countdown has begun, with full retirement expected by 2029.
