Their projection for South Cambridgeshire shows the Lib Dems retaining their towering majority, while the Conservatives are down three to five seats, with the Greens picking up two and Reform one in multi-member divisions (the map colours just show first place).

@puzzleGen Labour took control in May 2014 - before that the Lib Dems had a majority from May 2000

@PhilRodgers We all think City will end up with no overall control. For how many years has Cambridge been a Labour stronghold?

Here's a diagram of possible @camcitco election outcomes. 15 of the 42 seats are up (incl. a by-election); each hexagon represents a different possible split between Lab, Green and LD. The star is where we are now; Lab->LD gains move it east, Lab->Green gains move it northeast.

However, as things stand I think we are likely to end up somewhere around where the circle is, with Labour still the largest party but several seats short of a majority. Any two of the three parties could form a ruling coalition, but which two would? Interesting times!

Even if Labour end up one short of half the seats, they could still keep control with the help of Romsey councillor Dave Baigent, who quit Labour to join Your Party last year. However I have no idea whether councillor Baigent would be inclined to rescue his former comrades.

Agenda for next week's City Council meeting to debate the proposed Cambridge Development Corporation. This would last for 25 years, cover the whole of Cambridge and South Cambs, and be completely under central government control. democracy.cambridge.gov.uk/ieListDocument…
