Theatre is no doubt this is an incredibly difficult position that he finds himself in. It’s and absolute tragedy that these two chaps couldn’t find a way to work together for the betterment of the country and one would hope that ultimately it’s not the detriment to all Ukrainians. Zelenskyy has the experience and knowledge of years of managing a war cabinet and you have to trust in his final decision.

Now all the “sack Tuchel” brigade have had a big sleep… Can you please suggest 3 candidates to me that are; firstly realistic and a clear upgrade on Tuchel? I get the frustration, I really do. But our desire to scapegoat ONE element of any tournament exit… nuts.

The premiership is a very tough league played for almost 9 months of the year. It is top tier around the world. To win the premier league clubs have to play their best players twice a week especially with all the additional competitions. The demands are totally ruthless. For these players to have zero time to recharge themselves before the World Cup started was almost impossible. Personally I cannot see England winning a major international competition until we reduce the prem league to 18 teams, ditch the milk cup, and only allow prem teams to join fa cup after the 3rd round.

So I made this little bot, every day it messages when I should go sit in the sun outside, we're in Southern Europe so it might be more wherever you are "☀️ Vitamin D window — go sit in the sun for ~15 min now. UV index is 3.8 (ideal level — good vitamin D without burning)."

@levelsio What’s your take on getting too much sun (skin cancer, skin ageing etc…) Pieter?

Not a single English journalist asked Tuchel about his thing with Jude at the press conference today. I found it strange, so I asked them. They said: ✅️ If the team qualify to the final, it is also to the benefit of the media, so there is no need to play it any further. ✅️ Team England had informally asked the media to let sleeping dogs lie so that they could focus on the bigger task As someone who saw how Ghanaians treated journalists covering the Black Stars at this World Cup, this was very instructive:
Gary Al-Smith@garyalsmith

About 12-15 questions so far and nobody asks any Tuchel vs Bellingham. Knowing the English media, this is very odd and uncharacteristic, after such a public 'beef'. Got a feeling if anybody asks, press officer Andy Walker will shoot it down.

There is no doubt in my mind that the hyperbole surrounding this post match @itv presenter interview with Tuchel & Bellingham will have a detrimental impact on the team’s performance on Wednesday. We had unity and almost 90% backing and support within the camp. What Gabriel Clarke has achieved with his line of questioning is to create a massive chasm within the @England camp which has fuelled thousands of column inches of negative editorial copy. Why take that route especially as this have been going so well from a PR route. Clarke has managed to totally disrupt the group dynamics as he desperately looked for the click bait opportunity.

Harry Kane has accused ITV and other World Cup broadcasters of trying to create division in the England squad as he dismissed the notion of a rift “When you are playing a game like that and to be asked a question five minutes after the final whistle, and he [Bellingham] didn’t really know what the manager has said, what do you want Jude to say? “It is easy to try and create this division – it seems like an English mentality, an English thing to do at these major tournaments." 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

Thanks Henry what a brilliant summarisation of the past 36 hours. The authoritative voice of analysis and reason. The ITV reporter just generating click baits for his boss which all the other broadcasters and media love to embrace to generate copious column inches of garbage that we all subsequently consume.

Just done a couple of broadcast interviews and been asked whether there was any tension in the England camp over the post-match interviews at Miami Stadium. No. Firstly, players inhabit a bubble largely away from furious online debates. Secondly, players spoke publicly last week, especially on the back of the Stones/Rice wind-up on Tuchel in the Azteca, of their liking for him, and his emotional intelligence. Thirdly, players know that anything Tuchel says about improvements is obviously for the best. He’s driving standards. Fourthly, England players all know how close they are to achieving something historic and nothing will distract them from that mission. Fifthly, if anybody is upset about a few home truths then they shouldn't be in an elite dressing-room. At points in England’s past, managers have tip-toed around issues. Not Tuchel. He identifies a problem, devises a way to address it during the match and then mentions it openly afterwards. He’s honest. He has a demanding, winning mindset. Like Jude Bellingham. It’s why England have a chance of beating Argentina. The elite mindset of Tuchel, Bellingham, Harry Kane and others. Challenging each other, driving them all on in a week that could define their lives and legacy. #ENG #FIFAWorldCup
