Not gonna lie girls, if you'd have asked me 10 years ago if I'd been writing a play for the main stage and be in it, the answer would have been...
"GO HOME, YOU'RE DRUNK!!!!!"
Shakespeare’s Globe@The_Globe
How it started: Anne Odeke in rehearsal for #TheComedyofErrors (2014) How its going: Anne Odeke as Joanna in #PrincessEssex (2024) #PrincessEssex plays in the Globe Theatre until 26 October 🎟️ bit.ly/PrincessEssex2…

@NastazjaDom Because I TOLD YOU what you now wish to pass on to the next generation. I distinctly remember doing so. And you took no notice as I hoped you would because you were a true artist. (And frankly what other life style would make you happy? Exactly ! )
English

@NastazjaDom Is there anything you still have a burning desire to say?
Here’s how you’ll know. Go out to a public space, draw a chalk circle on the floor, put something in it that expresses what you need people to think about for a moment. Make people look at it. Talk to them.
English

@NastazjaDom But do you remember the impact they had on you when you first encountered them? There’s an ocean of people yet to experience this. We can’t deny them just because we’re bored. Everyone deserves a chance to see the greatest plays ever written.

@jonhans @SophieWay98 We struggle to get our head around this because believing in the dream defines us, what’s left if the dream is a fraud? But unfortunately you’re not getting the breaks because no one is getting many breaks
because statistically there’s very very very very few breaks out there.
English

@SophieWay98 Sophie it's a tricky one this game..
If you want to chat let me know

@HannahSowerby1 Thanks for getting back to me. I probably direct too much classical work. I’m always looking for a funny, poignant new “big” plays to programme off West end and I’m starting a new venue this autumn. So if you ever do have an appropriate piece you wouldn’t mind me looking at…
English

@PhilWillmott Hey Phil, thanks for your interest 😊. I may change my mind in the future but at the moment I'm only sending it to script windows and my editors/mentors at this stage of the play's development

Just to let you know that we distributed books to local kids this weekend following an addition to our Oz schedule, a screening of the classic movie. It was so lovely to watch them experience it for the first time and having the books to take away made it extra special

English

@JoshRoche1 I hate this so much but it’s because the casting director or recruitment agent has to prove to the employer that they’re worth their fee by providing a list of interested names. They’ll tell you what ever it takes to callously add you to this list demonstrating their usefulness.

@TheatreSpoonie @istudor_alex How do we change this? I sincerely hope there are more constructive, creative (revolutionary? ) things you, the younger generation can do.
English

@istudor_alex @PhilWillmott Also the theatre industry feels even more exclusive now since many of us in grassroots are having to work other jobs in order to fund our work and survive. It should be on those who get a paycheck to do the work of reaching out.
English

@istudor_alex Can you imagine how tough it must have been before the welfare state. I haven’t signed on for decades but on days like today when I feel like just giving up at least I know I won’t starve.
English

@PhilWillmott Most of the pioneers never had to work under the current producing conditions…there comes a point where no matter how brave and ingenious you are…unless you get some form of support…it’s usually a dead end…
English

@istudor_alex And the true test of an artist is how bravely and ingeniously you csn ditch your entitlement and bitterness and get out there and make things happen for yourself. Just as the pioneers of those established theatres once did when they weren’t automatically
