@hoffman_noa Not dissimilar to what was tried recently by conservatives (VVD) in NL, and completely backfired, they got outflanked on the right.

Some Tory MPs saying if the Lords try to hold up the emergency legislation the PM should call an election and fight it on Rwanda. They say they'll still lose but less so than if they waited longer...

Played a bit to get it back with Warrior. Great against zoo, teched to be much more solid vs rogue. If you're struggling against Rogue as warrior, or any matchup really, the title of the deck will help.

@ShankerASingham @Mij_Europe @edvaizey UK underperformed in past decade+, unique in G7, with flatlined productivity that is now significantly below US, Germany, France etc.

@Mij_Europe @edvaizey Not really. As the Growth Commisson has noted, poor growth in Western Europe, Japan and indeed most of the G7 has been a problem incubating since the early 2000s. The US has been marginally more robust but it is also on a sluggish track.

@gideonrachman @GeorgeWParker It's a repetition of the Rwanda migrant plan argument, which is simultaneously safe and a huge deterrent.

@unherd @TomMcTague Not necessarily a fan of Rutte or Merkel, but having been in power for at least 8 years each since that centrist meeting can hardly be described as a failure.

We did Leave the EU ... just. And only because the people, through popular sovereignty, had to do in 2019 what their politicians proved incapable of doing. And that doesn't change my point. Voters in EU simply have much less influence over executive power than they now do in the UK. Only in Brexit Britain did "No" mean No --an answer the EU had until then refused to accept. Ask the Greeks, the French, or the Dutch.
Tim Farron@timfarron

@GoodwinMJ I do understand this perspective - but it’s so paper-thin. All countries choose to pool sovereignty via UN, NATO, EU etc… the only way it would be true that being in the EU was undemocratic would be if we couldn’t leave. But we did. Which proves that we didn’t need to. Hey ho!

I think this is pretty compelling by @SebastianEPayne on some of the issues in the civil service. But one missing piece of the jigsaw is just how bad government has been recently. Endless changes of policy and personnel Skills & continuity cut both ways thetimes.co.uk/article/e42102…
