I don't understand the point of using the term "dozen". It means 12, so just say 12? It's even worse when people say or type "half a dozen". Just say 6 or six.

What's happened to the Crucible audience dressing up in suits and posh frocks for last session of the snooker final. I loved that bit of sophistication and tradition. Ffs, it looks like an episode of Benidorm in there tonight.

@Robbie_Reasons No. People voted to leave the EU with no definition of what that future relationship would look like. Apart from actually rejoining the EU every UK government now can create it's own terms for the relationship. Yet another reason why Brexit was b******s.

We voted to leave the EU not "move closer". You do not have a mandate to move us closer to the EU. You are acting against the wishes of the electorate.

@AidenJanus12 @swanabi I miss almost every phone call but it's smart so I know what I've missed and whether I can be bothered to return the call. Don't even know what my ring tone sounds like. My work one I did but if you are working probably don't go to a snooker match.

Since I started going to snooker with a mobile, I've been terrified of my phone going off inside the arena. I used to take the battery out when that was a thing, now check it about 52 times before a session to make sure it's on silent... I don't get why you wouldn't be like that?

@AvonandsomerRob In France town car parking is sometimes free 12-2. Encourages trade for cafes and restaurants and the traffic wardens get a good lunch break.

Perhaps if councils made car-parking free in town centres people wouldn't go to retail parks and shopping malls?

@AvonandsomerRob We had 2 hours free and when the Tory council stopped it's small businesses (and the council run leisure centre) could track a downturn in trade. Long enough for most people. Thankfully reinstated for the time being (as an improvement they are now going to bulldoze the car park).

@Jenny_1884 The referendum was Brexit Yes or No. It's been largely up to government what version of it they implemented, not what you imagined it should be. All part of what a nonsense the referendum and that decision was.

Have I missed something as I don’t remember being asked if we want closer ties with the EU. Has anyone else not been asked? It appears that Keir Starmer has a free reign & does whatever he wants & no questions are asked. This feels more like a dictatorship.

Just looking at the ratings for #ThatFrame in the snooker last night, and at the point it was taken off BBC2 there were 1.4m people watching, which is the highest rated frame of the Championships so far.

@TimesRadio @JLPartnersPolls During the Brexit debate one of my colleagues argued for it like this - let's give it a go, what harm can it do - with absolutely zero logic. I don't feel that has gone well. And now Farage deserves a chance? Why? I have no idea why. Times Radio scraping the bottom of a barrel.

Nigel Farage “deserves a chance” to be prime minister, agree these voters. “I’d love to see him on PMQs, just answering everybody and saying it as it is.” The Times Radio Focus Group is formed of voters who have voted for a mix of parties but now back Reform. @JLPartnersPolls

@KathrynDW59 @TimesRadio @JLPartnersPolls Some people have smelled that coffee and they like it. Surely there can't be many people remaining who could still be shocked and stop voting Reform when it gets pointed out that it is safe harbour for racists. It's incredibly sad how much the clock has been turned back.

Nigel Farage and Robert Jenrick didn't vote yesterday for one reason. It would have been pointless with Labour's huge majority. They were out and about doing a more useful job - drumming up more support for Reform. Hope that helps with all of you who lack critical thinking skills.

@Stsantek You are literally saying that they are drinking on the job in an attempt to defend this. In how many occupations would that be defensible? They are our current Members of Parliament, not trying to start a rock band in the 1970s.

Yeah no, sorry, MPs are often cooped up in Parliament for 15 hours a day, they will have a drink with journalists or colleagues and will still be discussing politics -their job, as Hannah says. I don’t like the blanket demonisation of MPs and Hannah should know better after she had already been accused of not taking the job seriously because she took part in that dancing event in Portcullis house. It was unfair to call her unserious about that then and it is unfair of her to now suggest that MPs having a drink in between votes which take up all night is by default bad.
PoliticsJOE@PoliticsJOE_UK

"You can smell the alcohol when people are in between votes." Green MP Hannah Spencer tells us what Westminster is REALLY like. The full interview is live on YouTube, and as a podcast here: linktr.ee/howtorebuildbr…

@JeremyVineOn5 People conflating this with the Greens policy on drugs are either trolls or thick as mince. Of course she is correct. I had a public sector career and alcohol at work would have been career ending (as would have cocaine, etc).

Should MPs be banned from boozing in Parliament? Green MP Hannah Spencer has said she feels "uneasy" when she can "smell the alcohol" on MPs when they vote. She says people in normal jobs wouldn't be able to have a few drinks during a shift, so why should MPs? Do you agree?

@zarahsultana That's not speaking truth to power it's petulance. You should represent your constituents which you can't do in Parliament if you are suspended. You have done something slightly more embarrassing than 30p Lee did, what a terrible thing to be known for.

Yesterday I was suspended from the Commons and escorted off the parliamentary estate for calling the Prime Minister a barefaced liar. I would do it again. Every person in this country knows that Keir Starmer is exactly that. I will always speak truth to power.
