@jim_demps Easy in this example. There was no advantage. You, oddly, mention 50metres as if the team actually took the ball 50m. They kicked it and did not regather it, meaning they lost the ball at the moment of the kick, which was way back where the penalty was 🤷‍♂️

Any ref that brings play back 50-ish metres for no advantage from a penalty shouldn’t be permitted to officiate at a professional level. They clearly have no feel for the game Fight me on that

@CosmicSkeptic Rightfully so. Your analogy makes no sense and is not at all comparable to Ricky Gervais’ comment. There will be no explaining this to you. You’re too deep in this to hit reverse on your analogy

@ArchaeoBenjamin @judejon_ As someone new to losing my hearing I have to say I agree that it’s reasonable for someone to be confused that you are ‘deaf’ when you are literally talking to them. It sucks. It’s the worst part about it in many ways because people just don’t understand.

Actual conversation I had on the bike trial today: Person: “Why does your vest that say ‘Deaf Cyclist’?” Me: “To alert other riders that I cannot hear or react to them unless I can see them.” Person: “But you’re not deaf. You’re talking to me right now!”

@ARugbyReferee @neil_treacy Just curious, if someone threw their hands outwards like a star jump to charge down a kick and the ball hit their left hand and then bounced across to their right hand and then went forward, would that be part of the same charge down?

@neil_treacy For me, it’s still part of the charge down. If it happened in one of my games, I would allow it, but then I don’t have the benefit of a TMO.

@ChalynRugby He actually wasn’t bad during those seasons at all, however, he wasn’t as good as those around him. Others were better. You’re right, there was no place for him. Which is almost laughable when you consider the calibre of players that get left out of the All Blacks.

Let me be clear about something. Razor got a lot wrong during his time but leaving Dalton Papali'i out from All blacks ain’t one of them. Dalton was so poor during both 2024 and 2025 Super Seasons and there were many players got better of him during this period. Can anyone please tell me what position he would have played ? I can’t think of any. Tbf when dalton arrived at the scene first, I thought he is going to be the next all blacks captain but he never got to that great all black level. That’s his fault. Move on #Allblacks #Rugby

I’ve got a theory. The Hurricanes are most people’s second favourite Super Rugby team. And I think it comes down to a few things. First, they just don’t have real beef with anyone. - The Crusaders have won for so long that everyone outside Christchurch hates them. - The Blues carry Auckland energy. Everyone south of them has an issue with it. - The Chiefs have little brother beef with everyone else. - The Highlanders are genuienly liked, but their brand of rugby is not super attractive. That leaves the Hurricanes. Everyone's second favourite team. The Hurricanes have always just played good footy. Fast. Agile. Ball in hand. They back their backs, they move teams around, they score amazing tries. That’s been their identity for years. The have a history of special players. Players with an * next to their name. Players who aren't only good, or great, but speical. That little secret sauce. That little something-something. That touch of class. The grace of Cullen. The power of Lomu. The nouce of Umaga. The wrecker of Nonu. The class of Barrett. The chat of Coles. The destroyer of Collins. That’s not just a list of great players, that’s a list of players people remember. Players you want to watch. Players you’d happily tune in for even if your team isn’t involved. Players who've left a unique mark on the game. Every competition has that team. The one everyone’s quietly loves. The one that plays good rugby, has great players, and doesn’t come with baggage. So I’m curious. Who’s your second favourite team in Super Rugby?

@Hitman Seemed like the sneakier option. No one alive needs to be engaged in any way. And quite a unique way of retrieving an item too. I’m surprised more people didn’t opt for this option out of curiosity alone.

@adrian_slabbert @TightFive_Rugby I’d stick with your guns bro. It’s not an upset when the Crusaders win, even when they’re not expected to be favourites. Home or away they have an amazing record. No one in the pub was surprised at all. It was a great game!

@khayadlanga @Avukile You seem to care more about World Cup dominance and I can only assume it’s because of SA’s amazing success in World Cups which provides you with the stats you need to make your point. However, I think you need to look at EVERY stat across ALL time. ABs are well ahead 🤷‍♂️

First of all, this is absolute rage bait. But let me fall for it. The Springboks and All Blacks are obviously on par. tThey are the two best to ever do it, but let me pull out my stats to settle this. Before I get into the numbers, let’s use a soccer analogy, because I know someone is going to scream that “New Zealand has won more Rugby Championships.” Yeah, well, a minor regional competition can’t measure up against a World Cup. No one disputes that Brazil is the best footballing nation in the world with their 5 World Cups. Argentina has won the Copa America 16 times to Brazil’s 9, but no one claims Argentina is the superior football nation just because they farm a regional trophy more often. World Cups are the standard. Now, back to rugby. While both the Boks and All Blacks have won back-to-back titles, the difficulty of those runs was completely different. New Zealand’s path to their 2015 win was a walk in the park compared to the grinder the Boks survived in 2023. 🇳🇿 New Zealand’s 2015 Run They were World No. 1 and overwhelming favorites, but look at the rankings of who they actually played: • vs Argentina (Rank 9): Won 26 - 16 • vs Namibia (Rank 23): Won 58 - 14 • vs Georgia (Rank 15): Won 43 - 10 • vs Tonga (Rank 13): Won 47 - 9 • QF vs France (Rank 7): Won 62 - 13 • Final vs Australia (Rank 5): Won 34 - 17 The only real opposition they faced that entire tournament was the Springboks (Rank 2) in the semis, which was a tight 20-18 win. 🇿🇦 South Africa’s 2023 Run on the other was insane. Now compare that to the gauntlet the Boks faced. They had to play the entire Top 6 in the world to lift the cup: • vs Scotland (Rank 6): Won 18 - 3 • vs Romania (Rank 20): Won 76 - 0 • vs Ireland (Rank 1): Lost 8 - 11 • vs Tonga (Rank 16): Won 48 - 18 • QF vs France (Rank 4): Won 29 - 28 • SF vs England (Rank 5): Won 16 - 15 • Final vs New Zealand (Rank 2): Won 12 - 11 Come on now. There have been 10 World Cups. Due to isolation, the Boks have only participated in 8. They have lifted the trophy 50% of the time they’ve entered and have a 100% win rate in finals. The Boks are either a league of their own or are on par with the Boks. You praise England and insult SA by ranking them together. In fact, Australia should be above England, they have two world cup titles to England’s solitary cup.

@rugbyexpansion The game that defines the pool is Aus vs NZ, so waiting to play it means we have anticipation building into the playoffs because we still won’t know who the top of pool A is. I like the idea of the big game to open, but then the pool becomes a dead rubber after that.

This may be controversial but i wouldn’t kick the World Cup off with Australia vs NZ. The 1st game will sell out regardless. Play Chile and give Chile a huge occasion to be part of. Then have Aus vs NZ at the MCG on match day 3, sell it out & build momentum into the knock outs.

@ChalynRugby It can’t all be created around ensuring that teams meet each at certain points based on their rank. That’s boring and rankings change too. On their day, the top 8 teams can all beat each other, so what difference does it make who and when they face?

There’s nothing wrong with the pool draw like some of you think, but having the No.1 and No.2 teams meeting in a quarterfinal is just unfair for both the teams and the fans. Specially when some teams pretty much have a free pass to the final. Someone should come up with a better way to put these pools next time. #Springboks #Allblacks #RWC2027

@ChalynRugby I just took a look at the draw and as long as we don’t get Italy, Japan, Tonga and Samoa I’ll be happy. Purely because we tend to get Italy, Japan and Tonga a lot in World cups and Samoa are a team we’ve played before and I’d like to see the ABs take on someone new

Don’t forget to tune in to today’s rugby World Cup pool draw event at 10pm NZT. It’ll be interesting to see which pool we end up in. that alone will shape who we’re likely to face in the knockouts. But here’s how the pool draw could play out: the best-case scenarios and the absolute worst-case ones in my opinion.
