I’ll push back on this a little bit. This always read to me as an assumption pieced together from fragments of info to try to have some sort of professional explanation. Could be part of it, not the whole story. He himself had the issue. He still to this day NEVER answered about it on the record. He still ghosted the franchise. He still shut everything down. He still outright exploited the NCAA loophole (of which the league HAS to close). Everyone forgets Danny and Keith flew out to Sweden to meet with him and HE refused. They sent very respected Flyers alumni up to Boston to negotiate and HE refused. I remember hearing after the trade that a LOT of people around the league were not happy he was doing all that because of how respected they are. To me, he never wanted to play here. He wanted the ego stroke of being top 5 and knew someone would give it to him if he said all the right things.
