@S_GerardRennick If the Qld Premier can produce and refine it into liquid fuels by next week then the PM should meet him. Otherwise it's prudent for the PM to assure our supply chain. I'm surprised you think this is a bar idea. You're not keen to assure our continued fuel supply?

Why is the PM begging for oil from Singapore when he won't even meet with the QLD Premier who wants to produce oil right here in Australia?

So... I did a thing! I wrote a book! It's called the One-Page Investing Plan, and I hope it'll be a book people can use to learn how to get, and keep, their investing on track! If you're interested, please have a look (and... maybe buy a copy? :) ) Link in thread!

@toobaffled Fantastic, especially for older Australians. Or you could listen to the unproven crap about vaccines. When are the 80%+ of the population who had the Covid vax going to keel over or overwhelm hospitals with serious illnesses? Any decade now?

I do not trust any ‘figures’ generated in Australia. Inflation. Job rate. Percentage anything. They’re all manipulated by socialists to reflect whatever they want. Our government lies about everything.

@BobBurn97207272 This debt narrative is getting old. We were net debt free in 2006 not debt free. The majority of the debt was run up by the LNP in 2013 to 19 before Covid. Labor has added about $30B to net debt. Your post is fundamentally flawed.

DONATE One Nation have long said and I repeat, this Government since it came to power has increased spending by $150 billion. In 2006, Treasurer Costello announced that the nation was debt free. 20 years on the debt is almost a trillion dollars. Someone has got to stop this economic suicide. Only One Nation have the guts to address the political trifecta in a meaningful way, in a simple way: • Cut immigration and apply very strict rules as to who comes into the country. • Scrap the net zero hoax, pull out of Paris and use our natural resources for Australian families and businesses. • Slash Government spending rather than increase taxation and thereby attack the scourge of high interest rates. One Nation is the political party for a better Australia. While we know you’re awake to the issues plaguing this nation, we need your help to get this message out to voters across the country. We must end Labor’s rein over this economic recking ball.

@BBHall10 Could be done but obviously needs infrastructure, transport options to employment opportunities, schools, shops, medical etc, etc. Agreed though it needs the will and if that was there, this type of thing could be started so we're not still in the same mess in 10 years.

Australia has no shortage of land. Just a shortage of courage. Free up just 1% of unused council land and offer ½-hectare blocks for $10,000 to young families. No re-sale caveat 40y. Homes get built. Kids get space. Communities form. What’s stopping it ? Politics, not Physics.

@shoebil57672266 Simplistic. The current network isn't that simple nor will the new one be. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find something else to complain about then.

@spenderallegra @deb_tassie What are the figures for the PRRT, historical and projections for the next 5 to 10 years. If companies are making windfall profits they'll get their return on capex quicker and pay PRRT sooner.

Really disappointing that the government is apparently ruling out reform of taxes on our gas exports. The PRRT isn’t working. Australians aren’t getting a fair share from their own resources. We urgently need reform.

@ChrisEconomist If the gas companies are making super profits then PRRT will kick in as it should soon. If you make it harder to make returns on capital the capital goes elsewhere.

THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED 🎶 The chance to tax gas better in Oz has died Again The reasons being given are (1) We can't add to world energy prices during a crisis And that's a reasonable objection to an export tax. But it isn't an objection to repairing the existing PRRT PRRT repair wouldn't change prices - it would merely change the shares of the cream between miners and taxpayers (2) But they already pay a lot of tax Sure. But that's the likes of company tax, meaning it is completely and utterly irrelevant to whether Australians will eventually get a share of the profits from mining our gas (3). No one will invest here again If business won't invest if Australia wants to finally charge a fair share of the profits from mining our gas, then that's fine (It also wouldn't be true. But it'd be fine even if it was true) No. As usual, attempts to tax gas better in Australia fall victim to regional factional warlords exercising a veto power over their federal counterparts. It's happened with both sides That ... cheeses me off

@ScottSavage6669 @Jeremy_Morton_ The Coalition ran up A$300M in debt in 2013-19 versus A$200M for Labor in 2007-13 with the GFC and in their last term ticked up A$33M. Should Labor do what they can to reduce debt? Yes of course but the old both parties got us into this mess doesn't wash.

So... new plan. I try to engage with almost every reply in good faith. But it's draining and time consuming. So, bad faith replies, including ad hominems, are simply going to result in the tweeter being muted - after one good faith reply, if I'm feeling generous.

@DrCameronMurray My opinion is about 50% of people on social media are blowhards who know very little about what they post about. In fact they know which posts are engagement farming, which are because they're bored and which actually have substance. How do we change that?

My opinion is that most university degrees are too long, and that everyone at universities knows this. In fact, they even know which subjects are fillers and could be dropped, and how to accelerate others. But their business is selling more subjects. How do we change this?

Bill Shorten left politics and walked into a $990,000 a year job as Chancellor of the ANU. He has never run a university. He runs his network. Dominic Perrottet went from premier to BHP international relations. Joe Hockey went from treasurer to defence contracting. Politics in Australia is now a networking phase. Voters pay the bill.

@Shaun_Fergy @mil22849498 @SirMickW On the debt issue, not true, the majority is LNP pre Covid. The LNP sold off the fuel reserve and closed refineries. Labor had issues to address but a big chunk of them the LNP created and is now complaining about.

@Philosophical46 @mil22849498 @SirMickW No, LNP and Liebour have taken it in turns to saddle Australia with 1 Trillion dollars debt, Fuel reserves, There would be no fuel crisis if Liebour had the correct surplus stored , Liebour are fixing nothing ,1,500 to over 3,400 people per day into Australia is unsustainable

@Jeremy_Morton_ That's debt as a % of GDP, here's the actual debt number showing the doubling of debt between 2013-19. No doubt Labor needs to fix the Coalition mess and 2 surpluses whilst a good start needs more work but let's dispense with the Labor created a debt mountain as it's not true.

@Shaun_Fergy @mil22849498 @SirMickW Well the LNP ran up the debt and the lack of fuel reserves, housing is both sides of govt inaction for many years. Not simple to fix and takes years. The criticism of Labor is they need to be bold to start to fix things but they get pilloried for that too.
