I don’t want to over-dramatize, but in the grand scheme of things, I think that the recall results are definitely cause for concern It’s very clear who we are dealing with, and what their goals are.

🚨 The recall votes against all 24 pro-Beijing KMT lawmakers, who were voted into office in Jan 2024, as well as Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an (高虹安) failed to pass. This is naturally good news for Beijing, and bad news for those who don’t wanna live under the influences of the CCP regime. The pro-Beijing elements will undoubtedly be more arrogant and more aggressive when acting on behalf of Beijing / CCP. focustaiwan.tw/politics/20250…

On this night 35 years ago, in the evening of the 3rd of June 1989, the Chinese Communist Party’s so-called People’s Liberation Army started shooting Beijing civilians with live ammunition. This ultimately led to the clearing of Tiananmen Square of the last remnants of protests in the early hours of the 4th of June 1989. To the martyrs who perished on this most fiery yet darkest of nights, may you rest in peace. We shall never forget your vision and your courage. We shall keep striving for great things which you have started but which you were not allowed to finish, until the light of dawn fulfil our hopes once again. Lest we forget.

A 'suspended' death sentence for an Australian citizen who became critically ill in detention - this is a death sentence by another name. 'Stabilisation' of Australia-China relations was always fragile. Now it has reached its limit. We must do more than differ - we must condemn

The horrors innocent children & civilians are facing in Gaza are terrible to watch but shouldn’t be ignored. The realities of ‘collateral damage’ need to be understood. Entire populations cannot be treated as undeserving of basic human rights because of militants & extremists.

BBC team reporting from Gaza find dozens of neighbours & friends among the injured & dead in Al-Shifa Hospital. Exceptional reporting - at a huge personal cost - from @adnanelbursh @Rushdibbc & many others in Gaza.

Radical evil on the march outside the Sydney Opera House. 80 years since Hitler's willing executioners were murdering 6 million Jews, this crowd, with its obscene, genocidal chants, reminds us that eliminationalist anti-Semitism still exists in even the most tolerant societies.

The protesters in Sydney screaming "gas the Jews" were merely expressing economic anxiety, decolonialism, and asking for peace and harmony among all people. Am I doing it right?

Closer to home, we in Australia must ensure that tensions within segments of our multicultural society do not escalate, and that no ethnic group is made to feel unsafe living their lives or exercising their rights in this country.

Masked men chant “Fuck The Jews” at pro-Palestine rally on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Completely despicable anti-semitic hatred, I can’t believe we are seeing this on the streets of Sydney.
