@thameswater @PhoenixOutdoorC On my way home I called in at the iconic @acecafelondon for a sandwich and a drink. Behind the cafe, in the Brent, was an area of white foam and greasy bubbles in the water. 50m away some men were hosing fish vyans into road gulleys

@thameswater Blocked sewers overflow into surface water drains, which flow into natural watercourses. So the Welsh Harp has been given a hefty dose of raw sewage. Fish, birds, canoeists, sailors use this reservoir. Ready about? Keep your mouth shut. @PhoenixOutdoorC

Part of the problem with winter fuel payments is the chronic underclaiming of Pension Credit, a key benefit that now triggers entitlement. It's thought 880,000 due it won't get it, and they're the poorest pensioners. I doubt the awareness raising campaign can have much impact on that (I and others have been shouting about it until we're blue in the face, for years) It needs proactive one on one contacting of likely candidates, eg those not getting full state pensions. Yet even that is hard because there are so many scams targeting elderly how do you ensure people trust that it is legit? I'd be interested in your ideas on how to reach the hard to reach pensioners who may be eligible.

Sorry to bore on about this but it's an important issue. There is no place in UK government for theocrats, religious zealots or anyone who seeks to impose their religious beliefs on others or on the way that others live their lives. And there is certainly no place for those that use their religion to create strife. * There is no place for Christian fundamentalists who hold the views of the likes of Miriam Cates, Danny Kruger, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Tim Montgomerie * There is no place for the sharia law advocated by muslim fundamentalists such as Abdul Rahman Saleem and Anjem Choudary * There is no place for Hindu laws regarding marriage and inheritance * There is no place for Sikh law on contraception, marriage and divorce * There is no place for religious laws that encourage or insist on the mutilation of children's genitals * There is no place for 'think-tanks' such as TurningPointUK who campaign for theocracy in the UK. I really don't know why some find this so difficult. Practice your religions as you wish within the law of the UK but do not impose your views on the rest of us.
