What a difference a little water can make! Both Drako great northern beans. Fields planted 1 day apart across the road from each other. Beans on left; never watered. Beans on right; watered once for 8 hours (~1/2 in). Field on right; loss. Field on right; break even. #nebext

Dry bean canopy pictures taken from our research plot and canopy analysis using our own software today. From top to bottom: fully irrigated, rain fed, fully irrigated at beginning and dryland after July 17. Three replicates on each treatment. Beans are definitely showing stress.

@Meisner6 If you send me a top down canopy picture and a estimated height of the crop once a week, we can try to estimate current crop water use of the stressed crop.

Our rain gauge registered 0.23’’ of rain on Saturday July 27. Although this is far less than crop needs, every drop counts in this #watercutoff situation in western NE and eastern WY. If you are Gering Valley, please share how much rain you got and how your crops look like now.
