Our research shows that using material science principles to fine-tune mineral inputs and soil management can improve sustainably grown hemp fiber while reducing environmental impact. Read more via Industrial Crops & Products: doi.org/10.1016/j.indc…

We found that although tilled systems with higher nitrogen (N) rates produced greater total biomass, no-till systems with cover crops and minimal or no N inputs consistently yielded higher-quality fiber, with greater strength, tenacity, and elasticity.

Rodale Institute has played a leading role in revitalizing regional hemp cultivation through scientific research. Our first study, together with Thomas Jefferson Uni., examined the mechanical properties of fiber hemp to assess its suitability for the fiber and textile industry.
