Just rewatched Richard III (1995) and honestly if I had to pick a ‘greatest Shakespearean performance in film’ I’d go for Ian McKellen in this. Just pitch perfect on every level. Immaculate control of the language while being so absurdly entertaining.

It frustrates me how large a following the “we never went to the Moon” crowd has grown, and how much of it seems driven by social peer pressure and groupthink rather than real evidence. Ask them to explain why the Moon landings were faked, and nine times out of ten they default to the same single talking point, “the Van Allen radiation belts would have killed the astronauts.” They treat the belts like an impenetrable death zone, yet they rarely, if ever, provide any data on radiation levels, exposure times, or shielding. Meanwhile, if you can’t explain every technical detail of how NASA engineered the trajectory, spacecraft shielding, and rapid transit through the weaker parts of the belts in under an hour which is exactly what the Apollo missions did, they mock you, call you a sheep, and act like you’ve lost the argument. It’s the classic conspiracy double standard, they demand you disprove their claim with perfect expertise, but feel zero obligation to prove their own. The Moon landings have mountains of independent evidence, rocks, laser reflectors still used today, Soviet tracking, and thousands of engineers and scientists who worked on it. Yet somehow one repeated slogan about the Van Allen belts is supposed to outweigh all of that? I get wanting to question authority, but let’s apply the same skepticism and demand for proof to the conspiracy claims themselves. Peer pressure shouldn’t replace critical thinking.

Simple test of this: train an LLM on all data up to 1900, then get it to resolve Maxwell's equations and Galilean Relativity, see if it comes up with special relativity. As far as I am aware, no one has done this (@grok correct me). LLMs aren't creating new new knowledge, they're compressions of the data in their training set.
