इस बार पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव में क्षत्रिय समाज की भागीदारी और उपस्थिति खास तौर पर देखने को मिली। कुल चार प्रत्याशियों ने जीत हासिल कर अपनी राजनीतिक ताकत दर्ज कराई। इनमें सबसे पहले नाम आता है राजेंद्र प्रसाद सिंह का, जो तृणमूल कांग्रेस (TMC) के टिकट पर नलहटी विधानसभा सीट से विजयी हुए। उनकी जड़ें उत्तर प्रदेश के बलिया जिले से जुड़ी हुई हैं, जो पूर्वांचल की राजनीतिक परंपरा को भी दर्शाती हैं। दूसरे विजेता अर्जुन सिंह हैं, जिन्होंने भारतीय जनता पार्टी (BJP) के उम्मीदवार के रूप में नाओपारा विधानसभा सीट पर जीत दर्ज की। वे मूल रूप से बिहार के आरा क्षेत्र से आते हैं और लंबे समय से बंगाल की राजनीति में सक्रिय रहे हैं। तीसरे उम्मीदवार पवन सिंह हैं, जो भाटपारा विधानसभा सीट से भाजपा के टिकट पर जीते हैं। खास बात यह है कि वे अर्जुन सिंह के पुत्र हैं, यानी यह जीत एक तरह से राजनीतिक विरासत को आगे बढ़ाने का संकेत भी देती है। चौथे विजेता संजय सिंह हैं, जिन्होंने बाली विधानसभा सीट से भाजपा के प्रत्याशी के रूप में सफलता हासिल की। उनकी पृष्ठभूमि उत्तर प्रदेश के जौनपुर जिले से जुड़ी हुई है। तृणमूल कांग्रेस के विधायक हरेराम सिंह, जो स्वयं भी मूल रूप से बलिया के रहने वाले हैं, इस बार चुनाव हार गए। कुल मिलाकर, इस चुनाव में क्षत्रिय समाज के उम्मीदवारों की उपस्थिति और उनकी जीत-हार दोनों ने बंगाल की राजनीति में बाहरी राज्यों खासकर यूपी-बिहार से जुड़े नेताओं के प्रभाव को एक बार फिर उजागर किया है।
