The developments around #Iran are creating a highly unwelcome precedent for Putin: Moscow’s position in the Middle East is being disregarded even when Russian projects and citizens come under direct attack. Diplomatic facilities in Isfahan, the Russian Orthodox Church building in Tehran, the port of Enzeli (a key hub for Russian-Iranian trade), and the already-mentioned Bushehr nuclear power plant have all been struck.
Some of the hits may have been accidental.
Yet the repeated strikes on Bushehr and the attack on the Caspian port show that Washington and Tel Aviv are paying no attention whatsoever to Moscow’s protests and expressions of outrage.
This cannot but alarm the Kremlin, whose diplomats have tried in vain to persuade Israel and the United States to stop such actions.

I’ve never been more convinced that Marta and a small group of grifters parasitizing at meaningless think tanks in the U.S. are bending over backwards to provoke the Ukrainian leadership into sanctioning them for blatant anti-Ukrainian propaganda and treason -- so they can document their “persecution,” prove their usefulness to MAGA, and secure an immigration case to stay in the U.S. forever.
That’s how it goes: some people fight bravely to the last drop of blood, defending their country and everything they hold dear, while others improve their material and residential situation around the world by opportunistically smearing their own bleeding homeland.

The Europeans are not dealing with “a man.” They are dealing with the United States of America.
The United States needed the most innocuous kind of cooperation from them. They denied the United States that cooperation.
The implied argument is that their obligations within our alliance depend on whether they like the guy we chose as our president. “Sure, we’re allies…if we approve of who you elected.”
Nope.
We are not going to forget, and we’re not going to forgive. I’m indifferent to their excuses or their rationalizations. The United States of America needed their help and not very much help. They turned us down. That changes everything. And they aren’t going to like how it changes everything.
