@YankeesFanEarl It pains me you guys don’t understand this. The family stuff wasn’t enough to push other teams over Yankees, but was enough to make it that the Yankees got no discount. He was willing to go back to the Yankees if they matched, but not at a reduced cost.

@YankeesFanEarl Incoming Mets fans screaming your salty as if he couldn't just go to the Mets and not start leaking a bunch of bullshit that didn't actually factor into his decision. It's different if reports are like "Yeah the Yankees weren't actually serious about $760 million." They were.

It was reported here an hour before the Soto signing that the Yankees were very uncomfortably in for $750–760M but that Cohen was prepared to go to $800M - which is precisely what he did if the Mets void his opt out and his AAV increases from $51M to $55M. How do you spell nuts?
