BREAKING NEWS | A multi-million rand Nigerian cellphone phishing syndicate - operating out of a well-known Durban beachfront hotel - has been cracked by KZN police teams.
Three men from that country have just been arrested, along with two local women.
Members of SAPS KZN Crime Intelligence dealing with commercial, financial and cybercrimes, SAPS KZN Commercial Crime Investigations, Durban Central SAPS and Durban Metro Police Tactical Support Unit worked closely to trace the suspects.
The alleged scammers were operating out of three hotel rooms, booked in the first week of April.
A number of cellphones and laptops - used in the commission of the crimes - have been seized.
The five suspects will be charged with fraud, theft and the contravention of the Cybercrimes Act.
They are expected in court next week.

South African prison gangs have no mercy at all. Look at what they're teaching Chinese nationals behind bars.

[INCIDENT-FREE MARCHES IN GAUTENG]
Over the past two days, Gauteng has witnessed powerful yet peaceful demonstrations and marches organised by civic organisations and political parties against illegal immigration.
We commend participants for exercising their constitutional right to protest in a disciplined and orderly manner. Adherence to the rule of law is an example of responsible citizenship.
Law enforcement agencies are to heed the call for decisive action against illegal immigration. We cannot co-exist with lawlessness!

We have WARNED our idiotic government that things are going to get out of hand on this issue and they behaved like the apartheid regime in being condescending towards us, and now we are here. I mentioned time and time again that the mishandling of the illegal immigration will end up affecting even legal migrants, but we were called names when we nudged our government to be proactive. This is the beginning of a nationwide wildfire.

Once smoldering, the flames of anger are now clearly visible. It's probably too late for govt to heed their call since they've been complicit in allowing this to happen for the past 30 years

Remember how the South African National Editors' Forum (SANEF) reacted strongly to Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s remarks about certain journalists allegedly being involved in criminal activities and being found in dodgy payrolls?
Listen: Makhudu Sefara has served as editor at both @SundayTimesZA and @SundayWorldZA and.... he is also Chairperson of SANEF.
Shono we've been wondering why these publications are so anti-Mkhwanazi‼️
That common thread is important to note 📌
Continue doing your work @RSASIU we support you.
