Following an unforgettable rhino tracking experience in Uganda, .@spiceofficial had the honour of naming one of the baby rhinos through a conservation contribution of USD 10,000. She chose the name “Nankula Spice,” inspired by the Ugandan name- ‘Nankula’ given to her yesterday by the Buganda kingdom Kattikiro .@cpmayiga This moment was an indication that when adventure, conservation, and culture came together, it is for a good cause. #NameARhino | #ExploreUganda | #SpiceLive

In 1996, a Rotary club in Ontario, Canada, took a 2,000-year-old Chinese tradition and turned it into a $1M community fundraiser. Ripple Effect, the documentary, is coming to #Rotary26 in Taipei. 📸: Fred Gonder 🎙️ Hear the story from filmmaker Craig Thompson and club president Dan Kane: on.rotary.org/3MvQw0D

Uganda Women's Network
“We cannot talk about Uganda’s future without talking about women’s leadership.” At the opening of the Post-Election National Women’s Leadership Summit, our Executive Director @RitaAciro welcomed women leaders, allies and stakeholders from across Uganda to a shared space of reflection, solidarity and action. In her remarks, she recognised the courage and resilience of women who participated in the 2026 General Elections, whether as candidates, voters, mobilisers, observers or civic educators, while also acknowledging the barriers many women continue to face in leadership and public life. She called on participants to use this moment not only to reflect, but to recommit to amplifying women’s voices, strengthening sisterhood and building a practical action agenda for gender transformation in Uganda. “Together, let us rise, unite, and lead the change we want to see.”` #WomensLeadership #GenderTransformation #NationalWomensManifesto #SUPA

The panel discussion, “The Story Behind the Numbers: What Do the Statistics Not Show?” brought together women leaders reflecting on the realities behind women’s political participation in Uganda. The panel featured Munduru Shamia, District Female Youth Councillor, Yumbe District; Kabugo Todozia, District Woman Councillor, Kasese Municipal Council; Doreen Nyanjura, Deputy Lord Mayor, Kampala City; and Sarah Opendi, Woman MP, Tororo District. Hon. Kabugo reflected on the stigma single mothers continue to face in politics, sharing how women are still judged on marital status rather than leadership ability, with some questioning whether single mothers are competent enough to serve in council. Hon. Munduru spoke powerfully about resilience and identity: “I stood strong not despite the fact that I am a woman, but because I am a woman.” The discussion highlighted that beyond the statistics are real stories of discrimination, perseverance and women continuing to push through systems that were never designed with them in mind. #WomensLeadership #GenderTransformation #NationalWomensManifesto #SUPA

The conversations following the keynote address reflected both the realities women continue to face in politics and the collective determination to change them. Participants called for the intentional systemising and structuring of political mentorship for young women beyond conferences and events, emphasising the need for sustained guidance, support and solidarity across generations. Women leaders also spoke candidly about the intimidation many women continue to experience in political spaces including threats, discrimination and physical violence often rooted in gender, political affiliation and regional divisions. A strong call emerged from the room: women must reject fear, reject division and stand intentionally for one another. Advancing women’s leadership will require each of us to actively invest in creating pathways for more women to take up positions of leadership and influence across all spheres. #WomensLeadership #GenderTransformation #NationalWomensManifesto #SUPA
