“Ben Rice should catch” is a take you will soon be hearing all over Yankees Twitter. Hard pass. Catching is the most physically grueling role in baseball. The chronic fatigue it causes compromises the lower-body. When a hitter’s legs are "dead" from catching, he cannot generate the same force into the ground. This delays hip rotation, slows down the hands, and causes a measurable drop in bat speed as the game and season progress. Ben has unlocked something special. Potentially generational. The Yankees shouldn’t risk throwing that away. Would you let Aaron Judge catch, even if he could? Of course not. Wells is a huge problem, but this ain’t the answer.

We’re nearing a very difficult Austin Wells conversation. At the bare minimum they need to get a serious right handed hitting catcher on the roster

Goldy goes the other way with a two-out RBI single! Very good situational hitting there.

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Placed LHP Max Fried on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 5/14) with a left elbow bone bruise. • Recalled RHP Elmer Rodríguez (#71) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

This is Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s first multi-hit game since April 26. The Yankees really need him to get going.

Jazz with a two-out RBI double! 3-0 Yanks in the third! Hopefully this is a good sign for Jazz’s future. He’s such an important piece of this Yankees team, and they need him to get going a little bit offensively.

Trent Grisham approach has been awful this season. He needs to be way more aggressive by swinging when the ball is in the zone.

From the Yankees: LHP Max Fried underwent an MRI and CT scan on Thursday that was followed up by an examination with Yankees Team Physician, Dr. Chris Ahmad. He will be placed on the 15-day I.L. after initial findings revealed a left elbow bone bruise.  Dr. Neal ElAttrache will also review Thursday’s imaging.     Repeat imaging will again be taken in a few weeks (or when asymptomatic) to further determine when Fried can resume throwing.  A more specific return and rehab schedule will be determined at that tim

@Rickeyhenley24 This is only if they trade Jazz if he can’t start hitting and in that case he would play 2B.

If Luis Arraez continues to be a solid defender, I’m all in on the Yankees trading for him. A hitter who rarely strikes out and thrives in situational hitting is a great recipe for postseason success. With all the power already in the Yankees lineup, they can afford to add a player who doesn’t bring much home run power but consistently puts the ball in play. @BobbyMilone29

Of the 260 players with at least 90 at-bats entering today, Jazz Chisholm Jr. ranked 200th with a 77 wRC+. Austin Wells ranked 201st with a 76 wRC+. Chisholm's .269 xwOBA ranked 238th. Wells' .322 xwOBA ranked 126th, though. #Yankees
Randy Wilkins@pamsson

Austin Wells and Jazz need to start hitting. They’re the two worst every day hitters in the lineup by a mile. Grisham has good underlying stuff at least. Jazz and Wells have been awful.
