Conservative MP Scott Benton celebrates the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade. In 22 states, that means near-immediate abortion bans. There are men in our Parliament who’d take women’s rights back to the Victorian era if they could.

My MP, Scott Benton, supports women losing the right to have an abortion. He also wants us to leave the ECHR. If he's typical of other Tory MPs (and he is), does anyone else see a massive problem here when it comes to the government creating a so-called British Bill of Rights?

@fiona_skywalker Exactly. The only reason that might happen is as you said, risk to mother, unviability of foetus. No one else is going to do that. I support abortion on demand up to 40 week, but we all know, late abortions happen due to tragedy. That baby is wanted.

@PipOnTheBridge They think someone would go through that much pregnancy and then decide they'd had enough? Really? After all that time to bond? No, abortion would happen much earlier fgs, before that had happened.

Oh please. Nobody would decide, after 8 months of pregnancy, that they'd had enough and were gonna get an abortion. Only way that would happen were if there was a risk to the mother or the baby had died, but they'd probably cesarean it anyway. Wow. People.
