Four years after a brazen attack on a Coastal GasLink Pipeline worksite by anarchists, there are still no arrests. As global investors consider potential investment decisions in projects like LNG Canada Phase 2 & Ksi Lisims LNG, they want to know that public safety and the rule of law are paramount. How are investors in major projects supposed to trust that people and assets will be safe if the BC Government can’t prosecute an act of domestic terror? Investors require certainty, and they’re not getting it under a BC NDP Government.

Canadians have been talking about the massive opportunity of the Hope Bay deposit since the 1990s — it’s time to unlock that potential.

Over the past few decades, the Middle East has built a number of large refineries geared for exports. As a result, regions of the world that have either closed refining capacity or lack it - like Europe and Africa - have shifted to import key fuels such as jet fuel, from the Middle East. That's mostly why Europe and Africa import ~40% of their jet fuel from the ME.

Is the idea here that we should close the Port of Prince Rupert? We want year round Arctic ports with icebreaking, but somehow Canada’s third largest port is now in waters so perilous we dare not cross? What are we doing here guys.

I was expecting a two year timeline. One year is quite ambitious, but it is the right target. Also a short 30 day consultation period. I expect they want all this in place before the investor summit in September.

Today Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and I made significant progress towards reaching an agreement on a west coast pipeline and carbon pricing that will protect Alberta ratepayers and businesses, and result in hundreds of billions of new investment in the Alberta and Canadian economies.  Although there is still some work left to be done to get to the finish line and ensure the interests of Albertans and our industries are properly protected, I am now much more confident this will be completed well before Alberta’s west coast pipeline submission to the Major Projects Office next month. Stay tuned Alberta :)

Lately, I’ve been asked why Canada should pursue an expensive greenfield West Coast oil pipeline when the cheapest option is to continue shipping to the United States. Today, my op-ed in @globeandmail argues that, if a new pipeline is evaluated only on traditional commercial terms, it will never get built. A West Coast pipeline should be seen as insurance, providing access to tidewater and Asian markets when it matters most. For a West Coast greenfield oil pipeline to happen, Canadians, governments, and industry will need new approaches to financing, ownership, and returns. #marketaccess #oilandgas #cndpoli #bcpoli theglobeandmail.com/business/comme…

In just five months, Nova Scotia has gone from talking about our energy potential to taking real steps to unlock it, guided by research and science, done safely and responsibly. ✅ In December 2025, we partnered with Dalhousie University on a $30 million research program to better understand our resources and how to develop them safely. ✅ In February, we signed an agreement with Massachusetts to explore supplying excess clean offshore wind energy. ✅ That same month, we introduced the Powering the Economy Act. The federal government also agreed to a regional assessment for offshore oil and natural gas exploration. The market took notice. ✅ In March, Hydro-Québec began assessing Nova Scotia’s offshore wind transmission potential. We also secured a federal agreement to streamline environmental approvals for major projects. ✅ In April, the Powering the Economy Act became law. ✅ And now, Inceptio Oil and Gas, led by Nova Scotian James Edens, has stepped forward more than $210 million for offshore exploration. Research. Partnerships. Legislation. Market validation. Regulatory reform. Real results. Each step built on the last. For too long, Nova Scotia watched others move ahead while our opportunities sat on hold. Our government is taking action.

1. It’s an expectation only in the EU market, and they’re walking it back 2. Almost all of Canada’s oil exports go to USA and Asia 3. No one is paying a premium based on carbon intensity anywhere 4. Our barrels are already very climate competitive with other heavy oil producers Venezuela, Mexico and Iraq

“The conversations I’m having with First Nations, and have had up to this time, have been very positive,” Alberta Energy Minister Brian Jean said. The loudest voices in opposition to the pipeline don’t necessarily speak for the communities that live along the prospective routes, he said.
